Alt text: And the journal is filled with all the things I'd say to her if I were nice like you. I burn it when it's full.

Wow, another comic with the classhole. He seems to be getting less inventive though.

As usual, the comic's great, but the alt-text makes it high art. It's hilarious, and it makes me want to curl up and cry.

Also, great quote: "This is why we can't have nice people."

As for the comic, seems like a good way to meet interesting girls.

And alienate them?

Um, a journal is not going to give you the ability to travel through time. Sorry.

Please tell me 'classhole' is a name you guy came up with, and not some name that was slipped to us...

Also, this comic made me sad ._.

I thought black-hatted-man was supposed to be awesome! It was all fun and games until he began to alienate the lonely, angsty fish.

Huh? Classhole. What comic have you been reading? And he is awesome, more so after todays comic.

Why is the classhole so brilliant? But this one makes me sad as well...

I did something similar once. I was reading The Stranger, by Camus, when this girl sat down in front of me. She kept turning away as if she was looking for somebody until I finally spoke up.

"Waiting for someone?" I said.

She looked at me with tear soaked eyes "Yeah".

I paused for a moment.

"You should probably sit somewhere they can see you then."

Most evil thing I've ever done.

*whimpers* And I was holding out for a nice, sweet, happy comic. It didn't register that this was man-in-hat until the end.
Painful.
Hilarious.
But painful.

petsfed, you are awesome :)

I don't understand why people think this is sad.

I think it's a really great way to make fun of the people who don't have the guts to just talk to someone. :)

That's like a deleted scene from the director's cut of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Alt text: And the journal is filled with all the things I'd say to her if I were nice like you. I burn it when it's full.

The alt-text makes this comic. So the ClassHole does have a heart! And when told that he's the reason we can't have nice people, in a way, the ClassHole is his own angsty fish in his own little barrel.

dude! seriously how better can the classhole get? he is my perfect role model.
I always first take a look at the whole comic before reading it, always hoping to see the black hat, if it is there I know is gonna be epic! :)

Iread this comic and suddenly noticed that I'd been inadvertently doing essentially the same thing for years.

Thank you Man-in-Hat, It's time for a change!

How can people think Black Hat is awesome for this? You XKCDers, who meet at coordinates in a dream, would cherish actions that punish someone for trying to connect with another?

For shame.

And I hope that you get everything that is coming to you in life. Whatever, it's your choice.

"Classhole" is an oxymoron. There is no such thing as a classy asshole and being a sociopath is nothing to aspire to.

Simpsons reference?

WRT todays actions, it seems a departure from man-with-hat's usual MO by initiating an offensive event, rather than responding to an obnoxious action.

Add a fantastic Alt tag to an otherwise mediocre comic and hey presto, genius :)

I think that's his idea.

Being mean to her might not be his main intention as much as telling the other lonely geek about it is. "Neener neener, unlike you I regularly have the opportunity to talk to shy girls on a train and instead I make them sad." The guy he's telling this to is probably more sickened than the girl could be. :P

I choose to believe that the shy girl on the train is so upset that she doesn't look where she's going and bumps into a nice guy on the way out of the station. He happens to be reading the same book as her, and they live happily ever afterwards.

What? It could happen in the xkcd universe, and probably did.

This inspired what my grandmother would call 'ill-mannered laughter.'

I further choose to believe that said guy she bumps into is, in fact, me. Also, she fits my ideal in terms of personality, intelligence, and looks; furthermore, she shares with me the secret of everlasting youth. Also, she has a pet dragon and can set mimes on fire with her mind.

But then, I guess all that is implied by "happily ever afterwards".

Black Hat Man strikes again.

I wouldn't say it's as great as his Nerd Sniping adventure, but still full of the "What the hell? You b******! " qualities he embodies.

this is SOOO eternal sunshine of a spotless mind. But it doesn strike me as an awesome way to meet girls.. the problem is once I open my mouth, they'll realise their fault and run for the hills... unless their a nerd and i can snipe them...

this is a neat evil trick, but you know what's fun as well, when they start smiling, take a qhick smile and walk away, preferably off the train, but if you can't then just walk as far away as possible, not as mean, but they'll be confused
