My greatest mistake: Watching "A Clockwork Orange" with the girl I was going to bang. Some days later, we're just about to get on with it, and "William Tell Overture (Abridged)" begins playing. Definitely a mood killer. She burst out in laughter and wasn't in the mood for it anymore.

I've put my hand on her head before...(I am a male)

Yeah, it's not so much a gender-restricted action as it is a natural response. Or so I am being told.

Is it sad that it would be a major turn on if it was their computer?

I hate to sound like a chauvinist, but I like to think that it depends on the woman present, since female moods swing faster and more often than presidential candidates.

The best kind of woman that there is would hear the new track, grin, and ask, "Is that the theme song to McGyver?", and start making love to you faster. And hopfully not because that's who she's pretending you are.
Or something like that.

I've actually thought about this for a while, after having a death metal song come on during sexytime. I now have several playlists, themed by mood.

I don't know about you guys, but leaving speedcore, idm and death metal in MY playlist makes life so much more interesting!

This has happened to me--twice. The first song was, I think, Fraggle Rock, and the second song was The Laughing Gnome by David Bowie. Both times, fun time was interrupted by unstoppable laughter. I was sad. Complete mood killer... Now I make carefully selected mixes depending on the type of sex.

Once Dance One from Philip Glass' Einstein On The Beach started playing while I was in bed with someone. It went from smooth jazz to "OYE OYE OYE OYE OYE OYE OO-YEE OO-YEE OO-YEE!" at about 300 beats per minute.

I thought we could just keep going and ignore it, but nine minutes in to the song I snapped and got up and pulled the plug from my computer.

It's happened to me!

(it wasn't actually random -- I just had my library sorted by artist, and it went from "10,000 Maniacs" to "190 Naoki," a remix of Paranoia Rebirth from DDR. Basically, the girl and I are having a sleepy post-coital cuddle, when suddenly a highly animated man screams out, "ARE YOU A MONKEY?!?!")

I've learned my lesson.

My ex and I both enjoyed the song "Mona Lisa Overdrive." It plays during the highway scene in Matrix: Reloaded, and if it came on while we were in the car, she would accelerate to dangerous speeds, somewhat unconsciously. It came on during sex one day, and that made for good times.

Music has backfired on me, though. The Inspector Gadget theme made for far more "Go-go Gadget fill-in-the-blanks" than I was comfortable with.

1) Ha
2) Hot. But not as hot as the "alone" drawings.
3) Sad my sex life isn't as good as that stick figures. Partially because I know it could be, as it has been. That stick figure stole my magic!

Great random music did once get me a wonderful make out session back in college. Kissed a beautiful boy in a stairwell with my lap top in my arms playing a bunch of things, all I remember clearly is Air's Playground Love. I wonder if he remembers.

I lol'd. Hard. Honestly, I need to get more stuff like this in my collection. I know them, I'm just not all that into collecting music. Closest I've ever come to this is making out to South Park. Just try and keep a straight face.

That being said, I have a weird taste in music. Tool is my favorite band, because I find it very calming. Tried with a few girlfriends to see how they react if I left it on. Not well.

Anyway, since no one else continued it:
Aperture Science
We do what we must
because we can.
"There is a tiny metal thing above it. The kraken stirs.
And ten billion sushi dinners cry out for vengeance."

Ok, so how many people actually use "lol'd" during IRL conversations? You know, the ones you have with other people using your voice and stuff? I feared the day this would become a part of our spoken vernacular. I feel like that mom on the ATT commercials playing Scrabble, "Huh? Rotfl's not a word! I have failed you as a mother."

Also, have you ever IM'd with a coworker or classmate in the same room as you and when they say type LOL, you call them a liar?

If the Portal theme came on during sex, I couldn't resist commenting on speculation about whether "aperture science" was what I was currently doing.

Also, the notes are drawn backwards because the music is coming from the computer. Since notes are always oriented the same way with respect to the beginning of the score, and the beginning of the score is generally drawn as originating at the point of sound emission in cartoons, sound going from right to left would have to have the score mirrored and therefore readable from right to left. Thus, the notes themselves get mirrored. See http://www.xkcd.com/389/ for sound travelling from left to right.

http://www.xkcd.com/159/ has the notes correct but they don't appear to be emanating in any particular direction.

I don't say "LOL" in convo because that would be lying, but I do sometimes say "BeRB."

I've had this happen to me before. I put my music on random, started making out with the guy I was with, we were *almost* naked when a Dr. Demento song came on. Both being fans of those songs, we started laughing uncontrollably, and the guy told me that from now on, he'd be getting turned on whenever he heard the song. Ah, high school memories.

On a related, but slightly different note, I sing along to just about every song I know, all the time, so twice recently, I was having sex (once with another girl and a guy, just the other night with 2 guys) and a song came on that I liked, and I started singing along. Got some weird looks both times, but since the owners of the computers were obviously also music lovers, things weren't interrupted for too long.

Uhm... this has happened to me. But my girl friends all love the fact that I am a giant geek, so they always laugh in the middle. It's actually kind of kinky to be in the middle of the act displayed when suddenly "Rainbow Connection" starts playing...

Plus, if you're doing it right, they're not listening to the music.

I've had a few instances of this when I forget to put on a playlist.

Funniest:
During foreplay "It's Going Down" by Blackalicious (a thinly veiled song about cunnilingus) much laughter ensued
15 minutes later: "Dressed Up" by Totally Radd (a song about sexy cross-dressers)

This would be a real danger for me, since I always put my entire library on random when I listen to music by myself. Which means that on occasion, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio show will come on.

Although the thing that would elicit the biggest WTF in my collection is probably the Ska remix of the Tetris theme. :P

Who thinks real-life events inspired Randall to write this? And on a broader note, how much sex do you think Randall gets? Probably as much as he wants.

YES. It's the lamest thing ever when someone writes me LOL and I look over and their face is rigid. I always call them on it.

Me being straight edge doesn't lead to a whole lot of sex, but if it were to happen, I've got a song in my library called '70s porn Groove'. A friend sent it to me a while ago, and it has one of the funkiest basslines I've ever heard, and apparently it was the main theme of Sex-O-Rama 2.

Oh, and right after it there's the wonderful midi from stage 1 of Rush N' Attack. Bring it on, girls.

Far worse for me would be all the random soundfiles I have... One of which is HAL saying "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that..."

Well, that or the a cappella remix of the Timewarp...

I immediately looked through my music library and selected the three songs that I must remember to move to another playlist before possible makeout/sexy time. And the winners are:
Cha la head cha la from DBZ
the pokémon theme
Lovely creature by Nick Cave and the bad seeds.

I actually have the exact opposite problem, every time I put my playlist on random I always get comments on how 80% of it could be construed as porno music.

I was going down on a gal once when the Violent Femmes song "Blister in the Sun" came on. If you don't know Blister in the Sun, the moment you hear the opening line, you are morally obligated to slap a flat surface in two pairs of sixteenth notes, to go with the upcoming snare drum beat.

She patted my head in time with the snare drum beat, which caused me to start laughing uncontrollably, which caused me to snarf a pube, which caused a modest amount of choking followed by more laughing.

Most of the music on my laptop is soundtracks from various games, mostly Final Fantasy. Knowing my luck I'd probably end up with one of the chocobo riding themes coming on. There's far too much bad stuff that could shuffle on, It'd be better to play it safe and not have any music at all.

For the hand on head thing...

Every girl I've ever been with has sworn that if a guy so much as touches their head, it's off.

Meanwhile, I've never had hands on my head when I've been busy. Maybe I don't need the help? >.>

About the comic:
It seems she enjoys their new sex themesong.
Why is it that 4chan is either infinitely awesome, infinitely bad, or "lolwut", but never any intermediary level?

A couple of weeks back one of my housemates thought it would be funny to have loud sex at about 2pm.... on the day before we all had end of term deadlines. A couple of us decided this was annoying, so we played a selection of carefully chosen tunes through the huge speakers in the room below.... notables included-

You spin me right round (dead or alive, aka the meatspin song)
Never gonna give you up obligatory link
Gay bar (electric six)
It's Raining Men

...etc. good times.

I've only been a victim of amusing songs while in the act once- it's hard not to laugh when Slam comes on, trust me.

I used to have a carefully crafted "makeout remix" of my playlist that removed songs like this. I just don't put on music anymore though.
