Randall seriously needs to leave my head and let me enjoy my fanatical obsession with Calvin and Hobbes in peace.

Calvin and Hobbes, Oh me yarm Oh me yarm Oh me yarm!

ETA: Also, is that a Mario Kart reference in the top comic?

How much is Bill Watterson getting in royalties for this?
:P
Or something like that.

I'd say a wheelbarrow going downhill would demolish a longboard in a collision, electricity or not. Calvin and Hobbes for the win.

Really nice art today.

You don't get to say that a lot with a stick figure comic.

I believe you meant to say "Calvin and Hobbes and Mario Kart, Oh me yarm Oh me yarm Oh me yarm!" It's like a bizarre marriage of two things very dear to my heart. All thanks to the electric skateboard.

Love it.

Randall did a great job with the Wattersonesque landscape in the bottom comic.

My love for this comic is inexpressible—the combining of calvin and hobbes, my favorite strip, with xkcd, my favorite webcomic. Pure heaven.

Does anyone know xkcd's (randall's) feelings towards Calvin and Hobbes?

Funny how Hobbes is drawn as a tiger and not a stuffed animal, as he usually is when someone besides Calvin is around.

Doesn't everyone have the same feelings towards Calvin and Hobbes? Love, obviously.

I wonder why we got a double feature instead of spacing this out over two updates. I guess Randall Munroe has plenty of ideas to tide himself over right now.

I rather liked this comic.

Really I just registered because I am tired of being the first one here to see the comic and not being able to comment.

The dual usage is interesting, and I wonder if double strip are to become a theme or whether this is an isolated incident. Anyhow the reference of Calvin and Hobbes is interesting.

Sweet! Two for the price of one (which was free to begin with)!

I thought those trees in part two looked awfully familiar.

Looks like Randall couldn't decide which way to go with this one so he did both. Interesting.

The Double Dash reference was priceless enough... and then I read the second comic. Definitely my favorite in a while.

I'd like to race a Bowser and Donkey Kong combo on the electric skateboard. Maybe I'd race against a Calvin and Hobbes combo on the wagon.

I could recognize the landscape right away...is like pure reflexes when seeing a Calvin and Hobbes strip...
I have to admit though..I couldn't figure out what they were holding on the first comic..I thought they were pies or something... :P

Calvin and Hobbes reference! It's one of those things you do to show you understand the meaning of the word 'funny'. Didn't Randall once say he wanted to keep his comic fresh and original? I imagine the double strip is part of that.

I saw it coming, but the C&H at the end was still awesome. Also, Double Dash is a great game.

This isn't the first time we've had a Calvin and Hobbes reference, but it's certainly the most direct.

And now I want an electric skateboard.

Oohhh you two are getting it now. Transmogrification that is.

I saw the trees and thought, "How Calvin and Hobbes-esque" then, KraKOW!

Awesome. Two comics, and both of them hysterical. No worries about copyright infringement, I'm pretty sure this is fair-use. And besides, if Bill Watterson didn't take the good time and trouble to eradicate all those "Calvin peeing on <insert logo here>" decals (and oh do I wish he had) he's not going to bother over a web comic. This comic consistently pleases.

That is such unbelievable watterson replication. First thing I saw was Calvin and Hobbes trees, not even Calvin or Hobbes.

And I shouted.

Then I saw the mario-cart reference.

And I shouted.

Then I saw Calvin and Hobbes.

And I cried then shouted.

I saw a link to this particular comic on Facebook, and I had forgotten that tonight meant a new comic (I know, blasphemy), so when I read it, I was aghast that I could not remember reading it. I though, I'll have to go through the archives in either direction around this comic, picking up on others I must have missed. So I clicked back, and it took me to Wednesday's comic, and I was like, "Huh?"

But then it dawned on me.

And I was very excited because that meant I got to come in here and say that Mario Kart + XKCD + Calvin + Hobbes = A great start to my Friday. Awesome job.

Yeah, I spent a few minutes trying to figure out what the heck they were holding. After I finally realized they were shells, I smacked myself for not noticing this in the first place. Man, this brings back memories...

Honestly, where does Randall get these ideas? They're perfect.

Good God. I actually understood a reference to a videogame other than the obvious ones (Guitar Hero, Rock Band, etc).

10 minutes later and I'm still flabbergasted at how perfect this strip is.

Randall, you could stop right now, and I would be happy with the state of XKCD.

I read this comic about 15 minutes ago. It took me that long to stop my fanboy-ish squeals at seeing Calvin and Hobbes. Also, my chair is broken from my bouncing up and down. Dang you, Randall!

I'm waiting for the Animorphs, Death Gate, and Cub Scouts references to make this strip's pop-culture takeover of my childhood complete. Maybe Labyrinth too.

I cannot express how happy this comic has made me. I had to register for the forum just to give voice to my squeefulness. As many others have noted, I saw the trees and thought, "Calvin & Hobbes!!!" and then it was Calvin & Hobbes and just... love. So much. *sigh* How many kinds of awesome? Ten billion.

Okay, now I can go fiddle with my profile and post in the intro thread. :D

The stick figure people don't look like they'd fare too well in collisions with normal, 2D people like Calvin and Hobbes. On the other hand, it's Mario Kart, so if you get hit, you just spin out and recover in a second or two, without actually getting hurt.

Very weird set of comics. I like it.
