Alt: Man, this emo shit was supposed to be for people who didn't have hats.

What?!?

My wife would probably say that that's me in the comic because she thinks I'm the only person to ever sigh. :D

What is with all this character development?

Bring back the flying ferret, that was my favorite character.

Wow, this has to be the smallest comic Randall's done so far. It's certainly short and sweet - I like Classhole's plaintive "SiGH".

Dammit, missed out by *this* much

Poor black hat man.

On the subject of sighing, I annoy my friends by saying "sigh" instead of actually sighing.

I was about to comment on the lack of other black hat guy comics lately, though I was looking through past comics, and was shocked to find that I had missed one! http://xkcd.com/412/

Now it all makes sense. Here I was thinking "he could track her down in a submarine, so he presumably hasn't lost her forever..." but now I see she could be with another guy. Poor black hat guy.

Poor Black Hat! He did found the only person who will ever be one step ahead of him, and the feeling's killing him inside, isn't it?

Just goes to show you..

Once the table is set, adding depth to a story is as simple as lowering your shoulders, sighing, and holding your hat in your hand.

Surely it is a comfort to know that even the classhole is allowed to have a sigh-that-betrays-the-weight-of-the-world.

I feel like having one of those right now.

I really liked this one... poor Black Hat Man was so involved in the chase and wrapped up in his determination to regain his hat (and his pride) that now that he's got all he wanted, it's like there's nothing left in regular life that matches up to the previous excitement. Like a stick-figure, classhole Frodo. :(
A good pun is its own reword.

In future-response to the possible forthcoming emo comments: http://xkcd.com/114/

I love this storyline so much. The same man who feeds rocks to children in parks is ruined by a single girl.

As much as I'm loving this story arc, I'm a bit conflicted...let's call it the Fangirl's Dilemma. I'm rooting for him to end up with the chick because that would be so cute and perfect, but at the same time I'm rooting for him to end up alone because them actually getting together would probably change him from the sadistic classhole we all know and love. What to think?! aaaaaaa! @_@

why are the "S," "G," and "H" capitalized, but the "i" isn't? seems like usually there isn't a dot over the "i" in Randall's handwriting (not since comic 96-ish, at least). but, feel free to prove me wrong.

I think that we clarified that it probably wasnt the journal girl, and instead that girl that we usually see in the comics. I remember it being a strong point of discussion when it came out anyhow.

Don't cha know? The uncapitalized "i" means it's "down" with the kids these days. For example: iPod (and any related third-party accessories), DiRT (a video game), etc.

Well,the "S" could be lowercase...
It's also gonna be great when we find out he's only SiGHing because his hat is too small or has a hole or something.

Seriously, Dr. McNinja just punched Dracula in the face, and now he's hiding in a hall of mirrors in his moon base. And Faye has a concussion after a raccoon jumped out of the vent and scared her off of the ladder.

Sisyphus? Really? I've always felt bad for that guy. Tantalus deserved it, you know... for chopping up his kid and feeding him to Zeus. But all Sisyphus did was... be clever. So, if Odysseus didn't get sent down to Tartarus, why did Sisyphus get condemned to an eternity of suffering in a place worse than Hades?

I'm just saying, that particular punishment seems a bit harsh for BHM. Metis should be rewarded ;)

wow, earlier today one of my sister's friends (the one my sister always makes fun of for being emo... and for being a trekkie...) told me to listen to some emo music to help me feel better because my girlfriend broke up with me
actually talking to her helped a lot more than listening to music or eating ice cream (which she also suggested), but both of those things helped too...

and i can't wear my hat anymore because it reminds me of my ex-girlfriend :(
