This comic has now stuck a really old song in my head - all I remember is the chorus.

I wave the thing all over the place
Practice 'til I've gone black in the face
I'm a big disgrace
To the Aborigine race
My boomerang won't come back

I had to make an account just to post this (first, yay!). But am I the only one (or few) who made the rightmost-panel connection?

I like top right to bottom left. Shows persistence!

1-5-6-8 is good also.

One great one that isnt random is starting at the first comic, go diagonally up-right, and wrap around, so its 1, 5, 2, 9, 6, 3, etc. its good for a long time, but dies in the last few strips.

16, 10, 4, 3 is really sad. Thanks for the randomizer, markfiend.

I loved this comic! I've never actually used a boomerang before, but they seem rather dangerous to me...

I got 8-15-16-3 as my first random comic, then 6-2-16-3. Man, my stick figure must be hurting right now...

The randomizer isn't using the xkcd approved random number generator.

My favorite combination (via my head, not the generator (awesome though it is)), besides bottom-right to top-left, is 15 12 7 4. Guy sees floating girl, a shark out of water, tries to come to terms with such happenings, then gets hit by a boomerang.
fn(int)2X,X,10,13

Quite possibly the world's first integral cliche.

contextualize that with the guy being the moving target, not the girl/shark/boomerang, and it's even more amusing.

I'd just like to note that the woman is clearly lying. She's too far away to be in the panel (14), then she's close enough to be in the panel (15), and then she's even closer (16). That's the opposite of leaving.

Using 1 and the first five primes turned out surprisingly well:

http://mukuste.x10hosting.com/boomerang/?panels=1+2+3+5+7+11

And a series of the power's of two, was uncomfortable.

Yay! Programming!

What? That'd probably happen if I where to get my hands on some boomerangs again.

Actually I was just reminded of the "sports pictograms" they used at the Sydney Olympics. Here's a compilation:

Flipped panels! Probably not good for anything but these few cheap shots, but still. Obviously no good for panel 16....

You could make a fixed -16 with the line re-flipped.

About my third go on the 16-panel randomiser, I thought this was quite good:
Image
Practising boomerang throwing, a random shark attack, meets a girl, then she leaves him either because she's unimpressed with his boomerang skills or because he's spending too much time with his boomerangs and not enough with her, and then he's too distracted to catch the last one.

I thought this comic was only mildly funny until I read the thread and saw all the hilarious alternate reading ideas.

Having made a website to first handle a different order and then negative values, what lays in store for this comic? Will we start reading certain frames in mod 4?

Grego wrote:Having made a website to first handle a different order and then negative values, what lays in store for this comic? Will we start reading certain frames in mod 4?

Well, mod 4 would just be the same as reading the columns of the original, so that's pretty boring... but here are the mod 3 comics:
#1: his gf gets sick of him spending all his time on boomerang throwing and leaves him
#2: he throws one boomerang, but six come back, and he tries to work out what is going on
#3: he throws a boomerang, gets attacked by a shark and meets a girl. A pretty eventful day.

Of course, the most obvious practical extension would be to go into the complex plane. And indeed, some of the other posters in this thread have already started putting in imaginary panels. I'm sorry please don't hurt me I won't do it again!
