Alt text: And then a second one, to drain the ocean.

We all are quite tiny when you think about it. And an obligatory "Bow Chicka Wow Wow" for the alt text.

But it's the motion of the ocean that counts.

I don't know why, but for something so simple, I love the art.

Looking at the sea *should* make him realize how soon Cthulhu will awake and come from the sea to eat his body and soul.

I absolutely LOVE the color of the sky and the ripples on the ocean. It looks really awesome.

So is this the REAL reason for the previous comic?

I think this is the first comic I've seen where the alt text is actually essentially for the punchline - normally it's a funny second joke, or a punchline enhancer. But here, it's the whole thing. While I'm not certain how I feel about it, I have to admit it's innovative, at the least.

Interesting what comics get colored.

This one was pretty adorable, if it's alright for me to use that term to describe a penis size joke.

The alt text confused me for a while before I got it. :)

Aw... that's okay, Gracenotes. You can't get them all.

As I recall from previous comic discussion threads, you are pretty sharp on the uptake, though.

Seriously? You needed the alt text for that joke? Must be my dirty mind cause the minute it said, "how small i really am" I knew what the joke was going to be. Ah, the teenage mind :)
Maybe if this signature is witty enough someone will finally love me

Reminded me of A Softer World, which maybe isn't too surprising what with the link to that site on the front page.

I actually don't get the alt text. I thought the punchline was contained in the "pump" text.

No, just that they didn't get the joke without checking Wikipedia.

Pretty sure penis pumps is the joke though.

This one made me rofl :P My fiance likes to joke about his penis being small (it isn't). So I sent him this one and he was like, "hehe so true".

I think the prettiness of this one is part of the joke. It's all atmospheric and existential, and then the title-text goes, "Haha, fooled you - it's a dick-joke after all!"

Yeah, I saw the pretty art and thought it would come crashing down to (or alternatively soaring towards) a crude joke (a la http://xkcd.com/420/). That was just out of left field, though -- hopefully no one has any "get out of my head" comments to contribute :P

Oh, and I did get the joke without checking Wikipedia, but one can always supplement a spoiler with a useful Wikipedia link.

Use a pump to drain the sea? That's ridiculous! Everybody knows that to steal an ocean you need a straw and a pickle jar (and a clubhouse basement to put it in).

Upon first seeing the artwork my brain said "huh, are we going to get two thinkers in a row? How uncharacteristic..."

And then I laughed and laughed and laughed.

I love it!

Agreed. As much as I expect every comic discussion to have at least one person begging Randal Munroe to get out of their head, I really doubt that many people have been made to feel inadequate because they compared their penis size to the size of the ocean.

Though now that I mention it maybe someone will do it just to be snarky.

Okay, good. Because I thought I misunderstood the joke. You made it sound as thought her interpretation was wrong.

"His", in case it matters to you. I don't think "gracenotes" is especially gender specific anyway. I mean, who doesn't appreciate a little pizazz in their music?

Also, did anyone think of the Married to the Sea joke when they saw this comic? It goes something like "Everyone wants to be married to the sea. No one wants to have marital relations with the sea."

I wouldn't get a pump. I'd just start hanging around smaller bodies of water. And I would drive there in a gigantic Hummer, towing a Ferrari.

I myself thought that the pump was to make the ocean smaller, because not everyone on these fora has a dirty mind . . .

I actually thought of a pump to drain the ocean before a penis pump. I guess I'm the minority. I have a pretty clean mind in that way.

Well, at least it's not all sad and what-not.

I got it before the alt text, but then I thought... poor choice of words.
Then I read the alt text.

I sighed and chuckled.
