I actually assumed he didn't specify /b/ because he didn't want to troll his own unsuspecting readers.

I remember going to see twilight with a bunch of female friends... We had a bunch of beach balls and got kicked out and I still don't know how the movie ends. (thank god)

I applaud you, XKCD, for showing us the light

the chans will not fall

she could have written "he logged onto www.forums.xkcd.com

then it would be a cause for panic

As much as I should celebrate the utter destruction of 4chan... no, thanks. I have absolutely no sympathy for Stephenie Meyer and her fans. if 4chan is the embodiment of everything that's awful in the Internet, Meyer is the embodiment of everything that's awful in Literature.

Besides, that comic is way too personal-fantasy wish-fulfilment "Internet même = instalaughs" fanfiction to me.

I'm so tired of people equating 4chan with /b/ and anonymous as if the whole of 4chan is /b/.

Can someone explain this comic to me, assuming I know very little? I know what 4chan and trolling is, but everything else is meaningless to me.

Twilight is a series of novels about vampires, very popular amongts teenage and preteen girls, but not considered very good. The 4chan trolls are trolling the Twilight boards, so for revenge, the author put in 4chan as a vampire hangout, so that a lot of fans would flood 4chan, the /b/tards hometurf.

Don't scare me like that, Randall. Now I'm going to have nightmares for the next week. D:

I actually used to be a Twilight fan, back when the book first came out....but the series started going downhill, and then the fans started making me embarrassed to admit that I was one....And then I read Breaking Dawn and woke up and realized that either Meyer was in it for the lulz, or the money. Possibly both. Also, I think Stephenie is sort of full of herself. When her next book got leaked all over the internet she threw her hands up and discontinued it.

She also reads Twilight fanfiction. Her beta is a Twilight fanfiction author, probably one of the most famous fanfiction authors on the net today, and I would even go as far to suspect that Meyer writes fanfiction for her own series.

At this point, I think someone should shoot Meyer in the foot for her, but that's just me. I'm such an anti-Twilight fan at this point, that I RAAAAAAGGGGGGGE whenever I see someone reading it, and occasionally hop on the soap box to point out how sexist the whole book is. Basically, Bella falls over a lot and needs to be protected throughout the whole series, and dies inside when Edward leaves her. She also likes cooking. And Edward. And doesn't seem to like much more.

Randall, I've just stopped into 4Chan, and you've spawned a troll attack on the Twilight Forums.

Actually, I remember a story about two kids getting acid thrown over their faces by some teenage gal after ridiculing Twilight. Much worse than stabbing and shotting.

And nothing of value was lost.

Actually, you'd probably have a hard time noticing a difference. Even if you figure in a generous percentage of proxies, 4chan's monthly visitor count outnumbers Time magazine's circulation by at least a million. There's got to be a decent amount of Twilight fans already going there.

The best part of today's strip is the alt text. Randall connects himself by reference to the great comic strips of the past.

Also, list of groups that deserve each other:

4chan and Twilight fans
4chan and Scientology
4chan and Cable News

Not really. I'm assuming, if acid was involved, they would have been in a high school science lab. No competent science teacher would allow kids to do sciency stuff without proper eye protection and will know what to do if an accident occurs.

Yes, they're a horrible organization, etc., but you've got to grudgingly respect that sort of wielding of power.

No, they didn't "get" him to quit, they forced him to quit. There was an interview recorded a while ago on the Opie and Anthony show, asking what Hayes thought of South Park mocking Scientology, and he said he didn't care and thought it was funny- they make fun of everybody.

He only changed his story later after the CoS began putting pressure on him to quit the show and shill thier "church." Hayes didn't really have a choice, and if anything they deserve even LESS respect for doing that.

This amused me and I sent it to my anti-twilight friends (they have read the books and agree with Stephen King that Stephanie Meyer can not write) and all I can think of being a Huge HP fan is if 4chan TRIED to troll the HP forums (like Leaky Cauldron or Mugglenet), and how fast they would be attacked, mutilated and destroyed. A lot of people on those forums are nice...till you get them angry. ^^"

What exactly would they do? Talk people to death?
Trolling trolls is silly, especially when they'll quite happily find out your address and effect you in real life, something you can't do to someone behind 7 proxies.

My only objection to the comic is that it glorifies Meyer. I personally replace her with Megan (BHG's girlfriend), getting annoyed at the newfags and hacking Meyer's saved copy of the book right before publishing. She dislikes unnecessary trolling, preferring a precision strike.
