0700: "Complexion"

Postby Nihiltres » Wed Feb 10, 2010 5:07 am UTC

Title-text: Why do all my attempts at science end with me being punched by Batman? (P.S. benzoyl peroxide soap works great.)

That it does!* But why is Batman involved?**

Edit: First on #700; I get an Internet win. But then I messed up for a moment with the thread title in the rush. :p

Edit 2: *I haven't actually used this myself, but I've seen it tried successfully. **People more into Batman than I caught the Two-Face reference.

I'm assuming it's a batman reference to two face, otherwise I'm quite lost on this one.

If it is a two-face reference, then you're one step closer to getting the joke than I am.

Thank you for explaining the "two-face" reference. I didn't get it.

Also, "salicylic" is spelled incorrectly.

Yes Brilliant!
I myself did do this a couple of months back to see if it had any result. I used ordinary soap and one of those brand specialist soaps that relies on the general populus being hygenic/vain... didn't notice the difference.
And I have to say that this is the one thing I hate about Batman. He never lets Two Face flip his coin. It annoys me muchly!
JUST LET HIM FLIP THE DAMN COIN ALREADY!
He tackled him in the Dark Knight , during the Brave and the Bold... hell he even tossed a whole box full of coins to mess with Two Face's mind in The Animated Series all whilst Two Face was just trying to make a choice..
In short: While I love Batman.... he is a jerk.

Edit:
Here is a clip from the dreaded Brave and the Bold just showcasing how much of a jerk Batman is.
I mean Two Face helped him out!

Aha! I think you're on to something. Meanwhile I stared at it blankly for a couple minutes simply not getting it.

Posting to point out an innocent mistake and suggest the person who made said mistake get banned. Jerk?

So, tough luck on punching the wrong twoface batman. Better luck next time.

I tried benzoyl peroxide, didn't work for me. I guess my acne was of a different type than Randalls is or something.

FYI - Benzoyl peroxide DOES work really well. Careful, though. If you're really fair-skinned or in dry weather, it can really dry your face out and/or cause rashes. Also, it's a bleach, so try to use white towels... and watch out for your eyebrows!

This isnt a batman reference, this is clearly a semiotic analysis of samuel johnsons' 1759 masterpiece Rasselas, showing the dichotomy of affluence and poverty, and the acne is a representation of the pain we must show the world, making our humility and vulnerability known.

totally hope so, but im glad im not the only one who was confused by this one.

His acne complexion made him look like two-face.
When he flipped the coin, he resembled two-face even more.

I thought it was funny once I got it.

Is it? What if the coin was weighted one way or another?

For a truly random chance, you'd have to make at very least two coin tosses, making pairs of tosses until the tosses came out different. If toss 1 is heads and toss 2 tails, count heads (and vice versa). This will even out any non-random coin tossing in case your coin is biased. Of course, you have to be able to distinguish between the two sides: no double-headed or -tailed coins! :)

This is a good comic about a huge problem! The inability to see progress makes using acne medicine (not to mention a lot of other things in life) much harder.

I was sold on this comic even before the last panel. The last panel, incidentally, which makes it awesome.

A question remains; are the attempts at science typically a cause of the bat-punch or is it simply a coincidental correlation? I think more science needs to be done in order to determine whether there is a causal relationship between scientific pursuits and bat-punches.
Warning: Post may contain lame, overused reference.

WTG Randall, who else would have thought of combining BatMan and Acne? And even if they did, it'd probably be something cheesy like BatMan fighting pimples.

Would you believe I get to pull the standard one-liner? I was just transcribing the Zero Punctuation for Batman: Arkham Asylum (I've fallen way behind, and I got bored) before I clicked.

Randall get out etc.

I must admit that I thought about doing this back when I had bad acne, but was never gutsy enough to try it. Now I know that it was just a natural fear of Batman.
To all law enforcement entities, this is not an admission of guilt...

I was all, "Hm, this is interesting. I wonder where it's going."

Then Batman showed up, and there was cheese burning.

I thought the Two Face thing was pretty clear, since he was only medicating half of his face. The coin flipping didn't click right away, though.
All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. That's how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day.
