The lack of tab completion is so 1970 (and irritating).

Coders, your lists are not complete until you add:
Spoiler:
PORN!!!

Hehe...

And try inputing it multiple times... xD

EDIT: Oh, I see, it's something just to do with the ! symbol. Funny anyways.

How does the Konami code work exactly? Is it just a matter of pressing the arrow keys and a and b in that order, or do I need to write Up Up etc in the console?

A couple I've noticed that are missing from this thread include using "poweroff' as opposed to "shutdown" after "sudo".

Also, the commands "ed" responds with "you are not a diety".

"quit" also works the same as "exit".

"dir" also works the same way as "ls".

"sudo help" gives the response "that would be cheating!".

"curl" followed by any full web address takes you to that site within the page, e.g. "curl http://www.engadget.com"

There were a couple of others I found that aren't listed, but I can't remember them now; I'm sure it'll come back to me at some point. Just need to figure out how to enable time-travel and destroy skynet and everything will be just rosy.

This is an epic win of the highest magnitude. I was a bit sad I couldn't telnet out, but I guess that's asking a bit much.

They keep adding new things, so every list is out of date as soon as it's posted.

I can't get the Konami code to work either.
Stephen Hawking: Great. The entire universe was destroyed.
Fry: Destroyed? Then where are we now?
Al Gore: I don't know. But I can darn well tell you where we're not—the universe!

Be very careful and make absolutely sure you're hitting the keys correctly. The first horizontal direction is LEFT, and the first letter key is B

^ ^ v v < > < > b a

I found myself hitting ab at first instead of ba, but once I corrected that, it worked perfectly. And it should still work. I just tested it as I wrote this post.
while (!spoon) {
fork();
}

Actually, I wouldn't mind if the site stayed this way indefinitely.

I'd CERTAINLY love if it stayed up as a separate/optional thing... a sub-thing within XKCD.com would probably be best. Like, as an apparatus for going to the comics, but with all these other things on it.

If it goes down when April Fools is over, a lot of people will have missed it and whatnot. :(

Regularjoe wrote:look

go {direction}

Couple notes:

-Use "look", then use "go" commands for the directions exits are listed. (BTW, remember that if eaten by a grue, you can refresh the page- I didn't think of that for awhile)

-"go down" is a specific exception despite not appearing in exit listings.

@ xmillion: I wonder if there's a way to get past that onto the next thing. I somehow doubt you can actually reach a new comic, though...

lets you take a nice nap.

EDIT: nano - Seriously? Why don't you just use Notepad.exe? Or MS Paint?
display (something other than a number) displays RED TEXT saying display: unable to open image "whatever you wrote": No such file or directory.

If the code is still being updated... think you could make it so the konami code, taken to Richard Stallman level, could pwn the grue? or at least put up a good fight?

For the average person, the youtube joke, or perhaps google maps joke, was the highlight of the year. For folks like me, xkcd takes the cake, hands down... this has been an absolute JOY to play with.

I'm glad http://www.xkcd.com/unixkcd/ is still there. But it doesn't work in Opera anymore. Trying to view a comic just results in an error:
An internal error occured: TypeError: Cannot convert 'xkcd.last' to object.

Trying "display $number" only yields:
An internal error occured: TypeError: Cannot convert 'xkcd.latest' to object

:(

Just a quick note.

I was so busy catching up to Randall and chromakode yesterday, that I didn't get a chance to actually tell anyone: the Making xkcd slightly worse archive has a CLI too. Because it's "slightly worse", it's DOS 2.0 instead of a Unix, and there are fewer commands (by a long way), but navigation and directory handling seem to work.

When I tried "enable time travel" yesterday, it wasn't working.

Now it says "TARDIS error: Time Lord missing."

Awesome. Maybe I need to find a Back To The Future Reference next...

New discoveries:

"make love" responds with "I put on my robe and wizard hat."

"use the force luke" responds with "I believe you mean source."

"use the source luke" responds with "I'm not luke, you're luke."

"hint" responds with "Use the source, Luke!", "There are cheat codes" and "We offer some really nice polos."

"time travel" brings up comic 630, as expected.

There might be even more; will look whenever I have some spare time.
