There is something odd about that cat, it doesn't seem to have the artistic quality of other characters in xkcd. I think it is just too much of a cat analogue.

I only just noticed that when the cat eats the red spot it is saying "nom nom".

I want stick-cat-figure too.

It's a lasing cat-vity!

I've instantly thought of Macavity song from Cats.

I agree. It's almost as if the cat were drawn by a different artist. Another poster said it reminded them of earlier comics, and I tend to agree. I suspect that Randall has been drawing cats for a very long time, long before his current xkcd style stabilized, which would explain why this comic feels old-style. And why it captures the cat's movement so well.

Yubtzock wrote:I want stick-cat-figure too.

It is a stick figure. A black one. Like BHM's hat. If it were a white cat, then it'd be white with a black outline, in usual stick-figure fashion. Besides, black cats are not known for playing by the rules.

:)

It's a lasing cat-vity!

I groaned.

Don't be such a sourpuss sophisti-cat, you know you love it. You've already given us puns in tripli-cat, you've got to figure someone would concatenate some more.

(its catching, you know..)

My black cat is old enough now that he doesn't fall for the laser pointer anymore, that must mean he ate one already and only abstains from destroying me out of the-- sizzling noise.

The comic: cute, good for a smile. The alt-text: lame.

The suggested alternate alt-text: "Just another typicaly lasey cat."

Cat puns are too easy. You can spit out out lots of them while just lion around. And it's easy to make lynx from one to the next. There must be hundereds of potential hooks, and ocelot of material to work with.

OK, that's enough; meowt of here.

There's a reason that the cat looks like it was drawn by someone else. The cat art is taken from Garfield's Nine Lives book (not a typical Garfield by far), sub comic is entitled Primal Self.

I'm sorry, but are you levelling a formal accusation of a copyright violation? Because, a) that's a pretty serious accusation, 2) it's your first and only post, and iii) you've offered little or no proof to substantiate your claim.

If you're just trying to be funny, you failed.

It's true, but that doesn't make it a felon offense :)

As for the alt-title-text, I'd have liked a 'population inversion' joke, I think cats would be all about that.

Striking, almost tangential, light CAN be extremely annoying. Not to mention a straight hit.

This cat might have a problem though. I'd recommend to try and hug it out. Ehh.. in full armour.

And yes, the proportions of the red, donut-like, ellipse seem OK to me; from a near floor perspective and having checked angles alfa(~40) and beta(~26) and their sinuses !

Strange. I only get 883. I guess it depends on how many languages you have though so on second thought that's not strange at all.

Also, cat /usr/share/dict/words | grep "cat" | wc -l Image

That's cat's power level is over 9000!! Wait, is that still a meme or did it die out? Meh, whatever. OVER 9000!

The ability to shoot beams of light from one's eyes is apparently catalysed by laser pointers.
