Funnier the first time I saw it: (Yes, I know. It's called "irony". What's even better is that *this* joke was funnier the first time, too.)

Anyone remember Night Driver1? What made that game2 was that it didn't understand momentum. You could push that car way harder than you could ever get away with in a real car, and never spin out!

1) Trucks have a LOT more mass than cars, especially loaded ones.
2) If you look carefully, the biggest issue is not that the truck didn't move forward when the car hit it. Notice that the truck rolled onto it's side while skidding backwards somehow, the length of the truck increased, and either that car front got absolutely pulverized or has dented itself onto the bottom of the truck.

Still a better simulation than Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing regardless.

The physics engine is flawless, and I'm sure Randall spent hours coming up with appropriate numbers to justify the observed phenomena:
1) The truck was length contracted because it was moving very quickly in the beginning. It's hard to tell because it's a comic.
2) The truck is pushed backwards because the explosions propelled shrapnel at incredibly high speeds in the direction of traffic.
3) In frame 4 the truck appears thinner due to length contraction perpendicular to the direction of traffic.
4) The frog does not length-contract because it moves instantaneously in faithfulness to the original game so as not to lose fans of the original.

The real question is what is the supposed realistic truck doing in the left lane?

Didn't the cars in frogger go the other direction? Or was that just in the Seinfeld episode...

As far as the reactions of the drivers actually being less realistic than the original, consider how "realistic" is interpreted by a lot of graphics designers. When game developers talk about "realism", they don't necessarily mean it in the same sense that the layman does.

Did you guys know that Robot Chicken already did this? I don't think anyone's come on this thread and posted a link to it or anything yet.

Since everyone else and their dog (frog?) has already posted the Robot Chicken video... does anyone remember the cheat code?

...what? Why would anyone suggest that? Having an explosion doesn't automatically make this a Michael Bay version.

Oh hey, two comededic things used a similar joke. Obviously one of them stole from the other and it's completely impossible that the two of them just had a similar idea applied in different mediums in a slightly different way.

Maybe not, but we haven't ruled out the possibility that the semi truck is actually Optimus Prime...

Or it is a child who, having just witnessed a horrible crash, is seeking comfort from their mother.

I was under the impression that it was the child who was calling their mom after they found out that she bought him an awful remake of a very good game.
seems like a mom might mistake "Frogger: Realistic Edition" to be more realistic graphics... hell anyone could.

Yeah, you call that an explosion? Michael Bay would have crammed at least 3 more into the fifth panel.

No real connection to frogger or computer games in this, but the situation reminds me a little bit of the music video for Carrie Underwood's 'So small' - depressed teenage girl walks out into the road when a car's coming her way, trying to commit suicide. But the woman driving that car swerves out of the way instinctively - and crashes head-on into the guy driving the other way, while the teenage girl watches, horrified.
