Title text: Best trivia I learned while working on this: 'Man, Farmville is so huge! Do you realize it's the second-biggest browser-based social-networking-centered farming game in the WORLD?' Then you wait for the listener to do a double-take.

EPIC. I hope this becomes a poster too.

Who here thinks this should

1) Be a poster?
2) Count as xkcd #800?
3) Be several posters?
4) be a sign that Randall needs (and earned) a vacation?

I hadn't either. Apparently it's mostly played in China and Taiwan.

Are the xkcd fora on there somewhere?

I hadn't heard of Happy Farm either. At a cursory glance, it's big in China. As an active Farmviller (so sue me!),I like the mechanic of stealing crops and the interface is nicer.

A few of the details were hard to read, but that's probably my dinky monitor's fault.

Now where is the Wikipedia Project. It seemed to be promising in the original "Online Communities".

"I am the Great Ozymandias, Friend of Friends. Look on my Farm ye popular, and despair!"

Also, the Wikipedia Page for Happy Farm is severely lacking considering it has 228 million users

Already pre-ordered my poster! It will take me ages to find all the little things on this one. Love the ferry between Gaia and 4chan. And the crater for craigslist's adult services section.

The Isle of Teenagers who've just discovered Macro Economics(Thank you Randall). There a massive amount of high school macro economics videos of youtube, all with varying themes, like describe an economics concept in music video style. Apparently all teachers out there have the same ideas. Here is an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjMuFIHmEck I'm the one who can't sing. If your ears bled, I'm sorry. :D

On another note, Google has launched fleet of battleships towards Skype!

I'm a fan of the inclusion of Sulawesi (an Indonesian island) on the far Eastern side of the map. It has a very distinctive shape that gave away the fact that it was an actual terrestrial island.

Why aren't the XKCD fora in the Forums Archipelago? (someone mentioned that but i am very peeved that they're not there)

someone asked if anyone noticed 4Chan looked like a dong and it does and it's definitely intentional

I loved the Google Talk invasion fleet, actually laughed out loud (as opposed to lolling). But why is there no mention of the blagosphere?

EDIT: Found XKCD, it's a very small (too small?) island north of AIM and between the Sea of Memes and Troll Bay (taking a jab at readers by juxtaposition?). I figured it would be in the Forum section since the forum is the most social aspect of the site... but Randall took the time to draw it while I was goofing off in college.

While looking at the large version of the map, I saw a site that my Polish wife looks at very often. It is called nasza-klasa.pl (similar to classmates.com) (just south of the "Plains of awkwardly public family interactions"). I thought it was cool to see that Randall went far and deep to find information from not just mainstream or even in the US.

kinda disappointed with the removal of some previous island like the Wiki web, Compass Island...

I guess Yahoo, AOL, classmate, etc went obsolete eh....

you should put xkcd and other webcomics on there too...

lol...spoken language is the whole continent..wonder what the other continent might be on the other side of the world...

It's...beautiful.
Anyone else think Randall should make those maps in epic fantasy novels? He'd be excellent at it. Most are just a land mass divided into two or three sections, he could make ones like this, with intricate drawings and meaningful names for in-between stuff (like the "Plains of Awkwardly Public Family Interactions"). Love it!
Also, thanks for including DeviantArt! My two favorite websites rarely cross over to each other.

Nope, that's #xkcd, the IRC channel. It's not referring to the webcomic per se.

I like that Craigslist is shaped like Italy. Kind of sad that the hugest youtube channels don't have any representation, but I guess they probably shouldn't.
