Alt: Ironically, the AYB retro-return-date (Zero Wing Zero Hour) should be around AD 2021.

Who's ready for the return of C h u c k N o r r i s jokes?

Test: Bruce Schneier

I've always loved that Zero Wing thing, which is odd, considering that I don't like many internet memes.

Edit: Awesome!

That means once it fades out of pop culture (becomes "uncool"), it will then return again (become "cool") in 2021. Like the stuff in the 80s has been returning to pop culture lately.

Its retro-return-date is when it will return, and be retro-cool.

would it make more sense if it were changed to "Coincidentally, the AYB retro-return-date (Zero Wing Zero Hour) should be around AD 2101."?

That doesn't make any more sense to me.

In fact, 2021 seems completely reasonable of a time for it to become popular again.

...But I still have to wait fourteen years...

2021 AD is the year in which the sega genesis game "Zero Wing" is set. I don't know if the year is displayed in the once-popular flash movies or not, but if you actually play the game, the opening sequence reveals the date to be "AD 2021".

I have. It's fun. Once you get into the higher levels it starts to become insanely difficult. Me and a friend played all night and we were memorizing where the enemies were and mastering hitting an exact sequence of keys at the right times.

I wonder how long until the cats of barely intelligible grammar meme is going to go the way of "all your base".

<hipkids> I CAN HAS ALL UR BASE!

It's like what they say about terrorists... Every time you kill an internet meme, four more slightly less cool but more determined memes appear to take the place of the original.

The only way to battle this grammatical menace is to take the fight to them! We have to fight internet memes in Farkbookichan so we don't have to fight them over here!

Now I'm waiting for a comic with dozens of disciplinarian English teachers parachuting into SMSistan and laying waste to the populace. (I'm also reminded of an English teacher who called on a student who was looking out the window distracted by the activities of the garbage truck at a loading dock and teacher made some smartass remark about checking out future career opportunities.)

I believe you -can- use it in whichever linux environment you choose, but you have to have extra stuffs. However, it also runs semi-natively in XFCE, I believe.

What if...Hat Guy was the villain? In other words, the villian made sense, but everyone else didn't?

Narrator: In A.D. 2101, war was beginning.

Captain: What happen ?
Mechanic: Somebody set up us the bomb.
Operator: We get signal.
Captain: What !
Operator: Main screen turn on.
Captain: It's you !!
HATS: You seem busy, gentlemen.
HATS: In co-operation with the Federation Government forces, HATS has taken over all of your bases.
HATS: It seems your ship will soon meet its end as well.
Captain: What you say !!
HATS: I thank you for your cooperation.
HATS: Cherish these few, horribly mangled, remaining moments of your life.
HATS: Ha ha ha ha...
Operator: Captain !!
Captain: Take off every 'Zig' !!
Captain: You know what you doing.
HATS: Before you're blown to smithereens, may I ask why you're talking like that?
Captain: What you say?
HATS: *sigh* Never mind. Lets just get this over with.
Captain: Non-coarse.
Captain: Move 'Zig'.
Captain: For great justice.

Why's the folder in the root of the system and not in a suitable home directory? :?

As for dieing out, I don't think it'll do that for a few years, then it will rise again after a while. Assuming we haven't all forgotten about 2D games.

Clearly reading the actual thread is not very popular with today's youth. (Kudos to mwn3d for managing to ask the same question twice - ten points for paying attention to what you're doing. Do we have any handpuppets in the room this evening? Just curious.)

Once more, in big red text this time for easy-reading purposes.

Chuck is the face of lameness. Not only is his one claim to badassness to have been beaten up by Bruce Lee, not only did he appear on TV to quote his own fun facts in a ridiculous attempt to be cool, not only is he a born again christian and pacifist, but Vin Diesel did the "fun facts" thing first. :o

Just had to say that.

Huzzah! Another fellow GNOME person! Although since I use Ubuntu, I've got a mixed bag of KDE and GNOME stuff. But my main desktop enviro is GNOME, and it rocks.

Also, the terminal prompt is incorrect. It should be
randall@randallscomputer:~$
Unless he's customized the prompt.

I have no idea why the ayb directory is in / instead of /usr/randall. Who knows?

AYB supersedes all other files and folders and exists at root. That's my explanation.

I think people are pretty clear on what it means. The question is "what makes it ironic"? I see no irony in things moving "from cool to uncool to retro-cool over a twenty-year cycle", unless I'm missing something (which is entirely possible, indeed likely). Incidentally, it wouldn't really be 'ironic' if it became popular again in 2101 AD, if you want to nitpick. It'd be 'appropriate', more than anything. Even 'coincidental' is a bit of a stretch, because it'd most likely become cool because of the connection.
