In Michigan, I get:
"Too quiet" on Firefox (I can zoom in enough to make the raptor disappear, and I have the "web browser" version of the alt text)
Vortex on IE,
The "Mile High" one from the Wikipedia link (the alt text just reads "Alt").

I just registered (but have been reading Randall's comics for years) so I could post a new one, but I can't figure out how to make the image show.

I live in D.C. and got the German chairlift using Firefox on Windows 7 and Ubuntu Oneiric. Also got the tunnel using I.E. on the Windows 7 machine, my Samsung Captivate on wi-fi, and an iPod.

I did find one no one else has. This is when I disconnected my AT&T Captivate and used the 3G data network.

Here's a link: http://i.imgur.com/lvMAB.png
Just wow Randall. Loving the effort.

I tried 3DS Browser. It's the "There does not exist, nor could ever exist, a plugin displaying this content." one.

HaHa. This is what I got on my Verizon LG Vortex (Android 2.2):

Sorry, I couldn't read the alt-text since it was on my phone.

Figured I'd post it since I hadn't seen anyone else who got it yet.

On the Dolphin Browser for my android phone in New York I get the snake one only out to the little lump. Curiously m.xkcd.com doesn't acknowledge today's comic at all. On chrome on windows seven I get the New York earthquake/blizzard one.

I have to say, this is hilarious XD I wonder how long this took to organize and implement

Before I start, I should mention I live in Maryland, US, and my ISP is xfinity, should those play a role in what comic appears

Oh btw heres the one I got, using chrome, Windows 7
umwelt.png
umwelt.png (17.63 KiB) Viewed 11021 times

And heres IE8, Windows 7
umweltie.png

And heres Firefox, Windows 7
umweltff.png

PROXY TIME YAY!
EDIT: Proxies (atleast the ones I tried, they're types varies) appear to simply show the comic reviews unless you enable scripts, in which case they show what that browser would anyway

I will try vista and XP as well, just gimme a minute

- Vista chrome is the same as 7 chrome
- Vista IE is the same as 7 IE8,

not gonna bother downloading any other browsers. I may check XP later, but first, international proxies!

(So far i have edited this post 8 times)

I think im gonna edit this post to hell

I would love to see a flowchart/whatever with all the possible cartoons. I've seen 3 different ones on 3 browsers - northern lights, snake, and earthquake. Personalizing the earthquake one was pretty spiffy.

Chrome: lake diver killer, same as the Burlington, Vermont guy
Firefox: hurricane, same as the Miami guy
IE: white void
Opera: white void

I got the tornado one in IE (was a hurricane earlier), which is very appropriate, even if this is not the midwest. And the snake one in firefox both times.

In Louisiana on Windows Vista, Google Chrome, I get the Northern Lights one. The first panel doesn't have any change to the "as far south as us" line.

In Internet Explorer and the Playstation 3 web browser, I get a picture of a lake and some mountains.

Coming from Facebook, I got the "Yo Momma's So Cynical" one

Coming from Questionable Content, the "Ave Maria" one

From Wikipedia, "There is no comic here, because instead of drawing one, I spent the last hour reading every news story cited in the wikipedia article on the mile high club"

Drooling Iguana wrote:I got the same one (Firefox,) but it said Toronto instead of Illinois, and "six more kilometres" instead of "three more miles."

Thing is, we got a pretty tame winter in Toronto this year, with barely any snow.

I still found the Toronto version pretty hilarious given how much people here freaked out about a tiny earthquake a couple years back.

I got the science newspaper for Firefox, a Low Earth Orbit New York variant of the earthquake for Chrome, and the snake for Internet Explorer, Opera, and Safari (the latter two I downloaded just for this strip :p)

Also, like many people, I found out that resizing the snake comic changes it, but I forgot to stop:
Image
https://sites.google.com/site/wolfiemar ... edirects=0
90 versions above; there's likely more if I actually cared to be precise

I also looked at the Earthquake variability by width; it's more subtle than most the long comics:
Image

Lastly, for the long comics, their width is also a function of browser height: if the window is not tall enough, it will always display the narrowest version, regardless of its width.

ygp wrote:I get the extra panel only when I resize the Safari window maximum width (or use full screen mode) on my 1680x1050 display. Is it possible the script detects when the window is as large as possible?
Seems unlikely, since I didn't get the other head until I stretched the window across both my monitors (1280x1024 and 1024x768). At that point it had stopped expanding... this was the result. Intermediate stages pretty much involved panels that were various combinations of portions of those ones, so I think that's probably the fullest extent of the snake.

I got the snake in Opera, Firefox, and Safari (including iPhone), but in Chrome I got a variant of the aurora comic which I haven't seen posted here.

Sammus wrote:except for the big coil with the guy in the middle of it I can only see at full width (may need to open separately to see the full thing)
I'm fairly sure I got a glimpse of him before full width... don't quite remember.

Also guys, the shopping reviews one is not an April Fool's comic. It was put up a couple of days ago.

What happens if you check on your Wii or whatever? I'm gonna check on my 3DS and see what happens.

EDIT: 3DS gives me the same one I get on IE, earthquake. Chrome gives me the turtle. The earthquake one clearly makes use of your location "But this is Georgia!" changing the state to wherever you are. And it's a tornado, not a snowstorm in this picture.

On the off chance that Randall is updating this based on this topic, I'll check back later today.

It was mentioned that a comic did change, and the thought was raised. :P

Yeah, I open mine in chrome and it just shows a spiral thingy. Opening it in internet explorer and safari gives me one panel of a reporter. The alt text goes into more detail when I opened it in chrome too.
