I don't think the Fresh Prince would ever use the word Posh.

Even though it's a uk program, I got an American add at the beginning. For "RC Willey". I won't say what it sounded like to my UK ears, but I don't want them helping around the house.

Oh dear. Cannot unhear. KSL broadcasts from my home state and I own furniture from that store.

YES

And, hmm, that was very confusing.

Just for the record, Will Smith did not do well at all last night. Three innings, five runs, three home runs given up.

He was most certainly not legend.

The first comic in about a year I didn't bother to look up even one of the countless references I didn't get on Wikipedia, cause I suspect it just won't pay out in the end.

Not the first time he's used part of the Fresh Prince song. Maybe eventually we can put all the pieces together http://xkcd.com/464/

I still fondly remember the poster campaign for the first MIB movie, which simply featured closeups of the two leads in their trademark sunglasses:
MR. SMITH
MR. JONES

Just in case there was any doubt of the perfect casting.

Must have been part of Will Smith's little known stint as songwriter for Counting Crows back in the 90s. ;)

I had taken cab rides from airports before, knew that Bel Air is in California and Philadelphia is way out east somewhere, and the line "around seven or eight" indicated that he got out of the cab after a long trip, so him taking a plane to get there was always kinda obvious to me, even though the version of the song I heard never mentioned it.

I had no idea they weren't playing the full thing when I watched the Fresh Prince. Is this the extended/full intro?

No. This is the full version (words might be off a bit in spots): I have it as an mp3, but I've never seen the whole thing as a video.

Spoiler:
Now this is a story all about how
My life got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air.

In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out, relaxin', acting all cool,
And I was shooting some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys, who were up to no good
Started making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mama got scared
And said "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air."

I begged and pleaded with her day after day
But she packed my suitcase and sent me on my way
She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket
I put my walkman on, and said I might as well kick it!

First class! Yo, this is bad
Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass
Is this what the people of Bel Air live like?
Hmm... this might be alright.
But wait I hear they're prissy, bourgeois and all that
Is this the type of place that they just send this cool cat?
I don't think so, I'll see when I get there
I hope they're prepared for the prince of Bel Air!

Well - the plane landed and when I came out
There was a dude, looked like a cop, standing there with my name out!
I ain't trying to get arrested yet, I just got here!
I sprang with the quickness like lightning disappeared.
I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said "FRESH" and it had dice in the mirror.
If anything, I can say that this cab was rare,
But I thought man, forget it, Yo home to Bel Air!

I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8
And I yelled to the cabbie "Yo home, smell ya later!"
I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there -
To sit on my throne, as the Prince of Bel Air

The version that I remember from tv skips from "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air."
to "I sprang with the quickness like lightning disappeared."

But yeah, a plane is implied just because of distance.
I hear velociraptor tastes like chicken.
