Title text:"If you read all vaguebooking/vaguetweeting with the assumption that they're saying everything they can without revealing classified military information, the internet gets way more exciting."
Posting this from work, XKCD looks official and legit enough to my line of work to browse, I don't get asked what I'm doing.

I used to serve in the Israel Air Force. The title text actually applied to me on more than one occasion.

I think one such post was something like "I can't tell you why, but if it wasn't for the late Congressman Henry Hyde, we'd all be in a much better situation."

Love this...

also, this is how i determine whether i keep you as a friend or not on facebook. In the past i got way too many friend requests from kids in middle school who just happened to go to the same school i graduated from so i set it to "friends of friends". this just meant that all the requests were now from people who's name i'd heard at some point i couldn't recall. i accepted a few of the most familiar but ultimately found it caused more harm than good as now when they posted something that was both vague AND intriguing it left me in the frustrating position of not being able to satisfy my curiosity.

example (paraphrased) "yes, it may not have been the best choice for my future, but it was the best choice for my friend! I would never abandon her unlike SOME PEOPLE" and a few days later "the doctors say she's doing well but they don't know how long it'll be. I'd do it again UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE! hope you're dreaming good dreams" and then "She's doing so much better today! the doctors think she'll pull out of it without any permanent damage! wake up girl! your real friends are waiting for you" and eventually "She opened her eyes! she's sleeping again now but she came back!"

HOLY SHIT! somebody was (as far as i could gather) in an overdose related coma and not only are you proclaiming yourself the best friend ever, you won't even give me the details! this one drove me half insane before i finally realized the solution. if i don't have a clue what you're talking about and the voyeur in me REALLY wants to know then i drop you like a rock.

oh, and...

was thinking the other day that it would make for a funny skit/bit to have a computerized nuclear missile become self aware mid flight. a few second later i realized it had been done only the missile was a whale. the combination of upset and giddy at the fact that my idea had been stolen by the someone so awesome was thoroughly confusing.

I am so glad I'm not the only one that gets driven crazy by this kind of social media post. A genuine "get out of my head" comic for me - never thought I'd see the day.

Edit: BTW one reason why it may be quiet in here is that the forum link has disappeared off the front page (this may have already been mentioned by someone, I don't know - I'm not a frequent visitor).

The caption, though, and the title text, both completely unnecessary. this comic would be SO much funnier without them. The words 'context bot' do ALL the work already. It's so frustrating. for God's sake have the confidence in your material and in your audience that they will understand what you're getting at the first time, rather than adding TWO explanations of the joke. If you feel the need to add captions and title text like this then that is a sign that something is wrong somewhere and you need to think about what that is.

(yes, yes, I know the author doesn't deign to read these threads, but, argh)

Um, this post feels devoid of content. Good luck?
For comparison, that means that if the cabbage guy from Avatar: The Last Airbender filled up his cart with lettuce instead, it would be about a quarter of a lethal dose.

Indeed. I just lived through 5 minutes of unpleasant confusion.

Edit: Bonus points for the previous comic listed in this forum being 1084, which is probably how you got this idea in the first place, but is a nice touch nevertheless.

Don't worry, you have travelled through time from July 2012 - that must be a bit disorienting.

In any case, was it really you who posted it? How many molecules did that person have in common with you?

"You" doesn't mean "the sum of molecules making up your body". That's "your body", and even that is arguable if you're in the mood.
