Sarah Palin supporter wants to kill Obama

Postby william » Tue Oct 07, 2008 1:51 am UTC

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-tr ... _roug.html

The article wrote:"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

As far as I can tell, she said nothing in response to that. I guess she doesn't want to piss off the "murderer" vote.

Ummm, the link goes to something different (an article from the beginning of March before Palin was chosen as McCain's running mate). Could you please fix that?

Found this on the Wash Post site -
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/10/06/in_fla_palin_goes_for_the_roug.html

I really have nothing to say on this one - "people are idiots" is about all that came to mind (probably not a reaction that says good things about my opinion of the race).

oops, linked a different wapo article, which I got when I was collecting the evidence for "if something like this happened at an obama rally the media would rant about how he hates america"

All things said, I'm sometimes surprised that McCain and Bush haven't been shot yet, considering they've done considerably worse. Republicans seem to be resorting to little more than mudslinging lately. :?

The crazed assassins of political figures tend to be from the extreme right, in America at least. So as long as you're a Republican, you're probably safe.

Obama is screwed.

The Secret Service is protecting him. Incidentially, I think the only President to have an assassin get through the Secret Service is Ronald Reagan, whose assassin shot him because he wanted to impress Jodie Foster.

My pet theory is that the only thing that's saved Bush these eight years is his perversely brilliant choice of VP. I don't think there's anyone who wants Cheney as President, and an attempt to take them both out at once would require a lot more planning and probably co-conspirators as well, dramatically increasing the chances of getting caught.

And, thinking about it, I'm actually pleasantly surprised that no racist/hyper-conservative/psychopath has tried to shoot Obama yet. Isn't that great?

It really depends on how they respond to it.

For example, when McCain responded to a shout of "How can we beat the bitch?" (Back when Clinton was still in the running) by giggling, you can pretty much assume he sympathizes with the statement.

Or when one of his constituents screams "Terrorist!" after Barack Obama's name, and McCain looks up and smirks.

There is certainly a distinction between making a claim yourself and just being willing to benefit from people believing it, but it's not a big distinction, and it certainly doesn't make you look good or honest, either way.

That being said....

....What Meaux said.

And the people who shouted out those absurdities might just be his opponents trying to get him off topic or to say something stupid. The comment is obviously trying to get some kind of response from the candidate if nothing else. I don't find a smirk or smile or laugh to be condemning evidence of anything other than being an experienced politician.

It doesn't take long to say "No. Let's be reasonable here."

Refusing to do so and giving the appearance of approval is basically saying "I wasn't gonna say it, but if you guys want to, I'm happy to reap the benefits..."

Any reporters that try to wander about rallies to talk to supporters get blocked, told by an escort, "Can I help you?" and turned around back where they came from now.

posting.php?mode=reply&f=9&t=28686

Barack Obama, she told 8,000 fans at a rally here Monday afternoon, "launched his political career in the living room of a domestic terrorist!"

Where did she get the part about living rooms? And if he's a domestic terrorist, shouldn't out government be doing its self-stated job and waterboarding him?

Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."

Oh, so that's why they're doing the crap from the first quote

"Especially in a time like this, you don't propose to increase taxes. The phoniest claim in a campaign that's full of them is that Barack Obama is going to cut your taxes."

That makes no sense at all. How could he be lying about saying he'll cut taxes while proposing he'll raise taxes at the same time?

Common misconception. Republicans are just at risk. Its usual for the mainstream GOP to be highly supportive of Israel, and somewhat reasonable on the immigration issue, both of which mark them out for assassination by the far-right, who think such policies proved they are controlled by the Secret Joos who run the international banking system and belong to the Illuminati.

Also, Republican foreign policies may attract foreign assassins. Unlikely, but possible, and these people are generally of a higher calibre than the have a go killers of the Aryan Nations and so on.

The only reason Bush hasn't been shot is probably because of Cheney. Talk about a life insurance policy...
You know, I'm not really sure what "socioeconomic class" I am. I'm richer than my parents, I don't have a real job, and my mannerisms tend to match up with whomever I'm talking to.

Yeah, you're right, it did happen at only a specific rally. Sorry. They did mean Sarah Palin supporters, though

the media wasn't permitted to wander around inside Coachman Park to talk to Sarah Palin supporters. When reporters tried to leave the designated press area and head toward the bleachers where the crowd was seated

Ah, fair enough. It's still not particularly reassuring. I don't mind Palin wanting some time away from the press but still being able to talk to supporters, I feel like all the candidates are under too much constant media scrutiny as it is, but flat out keeping them away from Palin's supporters is a bit much.

Even Rudy Giuliani responded when a supporter called Democrats similar to terrorists.
