Gigantoraptor....

I still think Utahraptor sounds cooler, plus it doesn't have a beak that makes him look like big bird.

An article in the Boston Globe mentions it lacked teeth. Though that beak looks like it could hurt, teeth are part of the whole "raptor mystique".

to me it's the claw

which would lead me to believe it's a distant cousin to the Dromaesaurids, rather than what's considered to be a raptor in the popular (dino-pop culture) usage of the term.

as one of the other threads pointed out, it's not a dromaesaurid at all (like velociraptor, utahraptor, and deinonychus are). It's an oviraptorid, which is a totally separate family.

Dinosaurs look more and more like poultry the more we find out about them... I wonder if they tasted like chicken?

(Someone will have to try them for me; I am a vegetarian.)

So...you want more threads on it? Because given how few people actually pay any attention to sticky threads upon entering a forum, that's what could happen. ;)

Probably they tasted more like wild birds and/or non-farm-fed crocodile, since the dino diet was more varied than that of the average chicken.
Unless stated otherwise, I do not care whether a statement, by itself, constitutes a persuasive political argument. I care whether it's true.

i got a good larf from knowing that this forum is paranoid enough about raptors that as soon as a new one is found the whole place goes nuts with threads and such.

Good news is, there are already programs in place to rehabilitate them.
