You are quick to condemn.
If the school did nothing, you would condemn them.
No, I wouldn't. Or at least, if the school did nothing to punish a kid, who, by their profile, is "dangerous because life is already punishing them", I wouldn't condemn them. They
didn't make the kid snap. In fact, most of the time I don't even condemn the person shooting, since it's usually clear how badly their mind has been warped by those around them. You shouldn't denigrate the sick for being ill.
They may have made a bitter AssHole of you.
What if they had never stopped you?
Chum, I don't even do drugs, okay? Never even smoked, I drink maybe once a year, and the main thing they quoted was when I quoted from Exodus
when a teacher tried to claim that capital punishment was anti-christian.
If they spent one second
ever giving a brown shit about actually solving a problem, they would have asked me why "I feel the need to shoot up the school", would have found that I thought the notion ridiculous, and would have realized how fundamentally pacifistic I am.
If they had not stopped me, I'd probably have ended up even more strait-laced and less bitter than I am now. 'cause now
I know even the authorities are morons and thugs, and not to be trusted.
When do you think Professionals should step in?
The US has very little support or guidance for Professionals.
Of course they are going to make mistakes.
When someone says they need help, and then they should work to give that help. When the other kids have been seen by a teacher
beating a child who refused to fight back
, they should punish the offenders rather than castigating the child for "not fitting in".
Not when someone manages to trip one of their "red flags", and then they jump into action to beat the shit out of the symptom rather than the disease
-- and in the end just make it even clearer to any kid like them that no one's willing to give them the help they need, and asking will just make their lives worse.
How about we try something New?
Turn off the fucking TV and pretend to be Real People for a Fucking Change!
How about they show me one gotdamn reliable study that shows that it's the media's fault for the same behavior we've had for millennia, instead of the freaking societal structure status quo that the authorities are so keen to keep undisturbed.
The children of inadequate, unaccomplished, undisciplined adults will Not be allowed to interact with and endanger the children of decent people.
This is a sentiment that it is really hard not to swear at. I was one of the hardest working, quitest, politest kids in that damn school. They picked on me because I was chubby and not one of the rich, popular kids in that private school -- as soon as I left, they started picking on the next poorest kid, as he reported to me. It's the same fucking behavior that society has always promoted, not anything new or unique to schools or media or whatever excuse society'd rather blame rather than itself.
