Adventureland

Postby PhatPhungus » Sat Apr 04, 2009 7:41 am UTC

I just saw it, it was not at all what I expected, but I really really liked it. But I'm a sucker for romantic stuff.

Kind of expected it to be a comedy given the cast and director, and that all the ads mentioned superbad, but it wasn't really.

Anyone else see it?

I especially liked Joel, I know a guy almost exactly like him.

I enjoyed it a lot. It was WAY predictable, but otherwise superb. Lou Reed FTW.

I hated it. It wasn't a bad movie, i just couldn't get over how much of a tool the main character was. Virtually every line made me go "RAAUUUGGGHHHHH".

I fail to see how he is a tool.

(To bump an old topic)
Spoiler:
I was kind of very mad at his choosing Em over Lisa P. Sure, it's the classic choose-the-hottest-girl or the one you understand, but Lisa P. wasn't very stupid (when she wasn't high), and talked to him about a lot of interesting things. And was hotter, and a virgin, and didn't go have sex repeatedly with a married guy.
But that's just me.

Also, I think this would be a lot more popular if they'd had a better advertising team. Overall I liked it. The boss was hilarious (The actor that plays him is always good at that kind of persona), and some of the lines and physical comedy were hilarious.

I really enjoyed it, it was your typical 'summer I remember most' movie, but it was done very well, and Jesse Eisenberg is one of the best young actors around.

Great soundtrack too.

I saw this and didn't much like it. I kind of wanted to slap every character in the movie.

I think it was marketed incorrectly as a crude comedy, where it was really a romantic drama with comedic moments. Still, I thought it was pretty decent, competently directed and acted. Story was a little predictable, but it was well executed.

I laughed at some parts, but I agree. I did expect it to be more hilariously funny like Superbad. I liked it and would totally recommend it though.
