Craaaaaaap!!! I woulda' had time to post the comic first were it not for me being on my iPod and in no immediate access to the computer...

Anyways...not as funny as yesterday's comic, but definitely something that Randal would write.
BTW, that's no moon....

I know this is terribly obtuse and/or hypercritical of me, but oh well.

The art is perfect, spot-on Randall-style....except the girl's hair. The girl's hair is terrible. Abso-freaking-lutely terrible.

EDIT: Holy crap! Not only is it terrible, but it looks just like my most unpleasant ex's hair. I just realized that. Ugh....

At first, I thought they were some kind of giant bacteriophage. Then they started talking. I'm not sure why they had to be sitting on a moon... that hurts too much to think about.

But having a comic was itself unexpected.

So, if the moon is a bacterium, what would that make the planet it's orbiting?

It sounds to me that you are suggesting that the moon is question is Oberon, not Luna.

  • The art is much better than Randall ever does, etc.
  • $guest's webcomic really sucks, etc.
  • It contains a joke, but I'm still angry because it reminds me of those unhappy times every M/W/F where I'd check xkcd and find there's not a joke which I'm entitled to, etc.
  • I'm only here to tell people they're stupid for liking something I hate. If they love it so much, why don't they just go to the site's official forums?, and use those instead to express their appreciation. Etc.

^Thought I'd leave all that there, in anticipation of the tired response now invariably expected from the couple of xkcd sucks! people. I just saved you clicking the submit button!

I think this looks remarkably like xkcd's style, and is beautifully surreal. Two people enjoying a date on one of the earth's most romantic heavenly bodies*? Whatever next!

*except for the Firebird II satellite, of course, which distributes the Czech Republic's Playboy Romantický channel.
Away, you scullion! you rampallion! You fustilarian! I'll tickle your catastrophe.

I recommend anyone who hasn't already to check out Buttercup Festival. It's very whimsical. If you liked early xkcd, I think you might like this.

I liked it. I liked it alot.

Very XKCD in style - both in terms of the art (hair aside, now that it's been mentioned) and the concept. I prefer this one to yesterdays.

Is David Troupes making a satire of xkcd here? Becuause this is very bit as boring, irritating and yucky as something Randall would do after having too much candy and feeling lonely on a Friday night.

I had the exact same reaction. Which is strange, because bacteriophages are 1 of maybe 4 things I remember learning about in 9th grade biology.

I was anticipating a smoking crater for the bully, not a minor bump to the head. This disappointed me, alot.

I hope black_hat_guy wasn't also cursed with an ex who shared the hair-awfulness of my worst ex....and I would be not a little creeped out if he knew what my ex's hair looked like....

But having a comic was itself unexpected.

It was a rather good parody of Robert Heinlein's "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress", where lunar colonists get Earth to grant them independence by using an electromagnetic catapult to lob huge rocks at Earth.

I can't believe I'm the only one who caught that reference.
