However, this is not the origin video for the On Point Kings/Homestarmy, contrary to what I thought yesterday, so it may or may not be irrelevant.

Actually... this seems extremely relevant to me. The hrwiki page for On Point Kings only mentions them appearing in two places, and this is the second. Also, I remember the Municipality being basically a 1984-government kind of group... so they could very well be an anti-town faction. Hausdog's boldness in claiming speaks against that, I suppose, but I still haven't seen him helping town yet this game. So for that:

FoS: Hausdog

I agree with the sentiment that we're the ones in a position to be making demands. slbub, don't claim anything you don't want to just because Hausdog asked.

And though it's probably a bit early to be beating the lurker drum, I don't want today to end up like D1. cellery and dotproduct need to start posting, because 3 RL days have passed already since the day began.

At this point most of the role-spec is going over my head.

I agree with Hausdog eating the laser. It might mean we have 1 less kill tonight. It might mean nothing. But it wouldn't be worse than eating the computer.

I don't like the way Hausdog is trying to get people to claim. They should have no motivation to try and scumhunt, or really do anything, except eat what we tell them. Unless they aren't being completely truthful.

On the basis that there's no deadline, I'm going to leave this one where it is. I agree that Hausdog's demands regarding claims are probably out of place. And it does make me wonder about his alignment (combined with the Municipality and his apparent unwillingness to eat something anti-town, when he was thrilled to eat something townie yesterday).

Coming soon to a theater near you, it's Homestar Runner!

*applause*

And now that I have my brand not-new computer, let's answer an e-mail!

Today's question comes from Alex Tillens, from Wyoming.

Dear Homestar,

If you had a catalog that was full of sweet Japanese robots which

robot would you pick? I chose the sexy one but I dunno anymore if that

was a good idea. It is useful but less sexy than I thought.

Sincerely,
Guy who is Totally Ordinary

That depends, Guy. Are we talking about the tiny, work-em-up robots on wheels that only play football or think? Or those giant, body shaped armed robots the size of small cities that can fly, shoot missles, cause international distress and all the other cool stuff that they do in cartoons? Cuz that would be awesome!

But you know what's even cooler? Those giant robots that go and pilot their own even bigger robots! There's no way you're stopping one of those!

ugh.. I think at this point we can conclusively say that the emails will not be helpful to the actual game for whatever reason. Most likely the responses have some restriction or they have some incentive to answering emails in the "authentic style" of their characters. We should try sending homestar emails that fit the tone of the flavor but could be useful somehow.

Anyway, lets get the game going here people. Move it whore loose tit.

Vote: Housedog

I will unvote when you eat the laser or when you've given a satisfying reason why not. And answer my question about the poopsmith.

What purpose could a player trying to help town have for not answering any emails pertaining to game so far? Surly someone has a copping ability, and surly they have reported their findings to homestar, and surly someone has sent an email to homsestar asking if he has any insight on who is scum and who is town. Is there any reason for him to not have replied with what info he has? Which of my assumptions is incorrect?

I'm not saying don't email him, I'm saying try to format your emails to fit the flavor, it might help.

Oh and lastly, even if there is some sort of game-imposed restriction on answering emails, it would still be good for everyone to send their information to Homestar. They are definitely a town player, so sharing information (mostly action results) is already a helpful thing for the game.

I guess I took that as a bit of bastardy then (I think I'm using that term correctly.) I took it as, "You can send anything but I didn't say he could reply to anything."

Considering that both Strongbad and now Homestar have only answered emails with flavorful nonsense I think there must be a reason for it beyond "they are both bad players who love the flavor SO much." I think they may have a restriction on how they answer emails such as, "You must impersonate your characters style in your reply." That's a lot of work, especially for someone who's flavorblind which would explain the rareness of the replies.

Anyway, I never advocating giving up on the system, I simply suggested people compose thier emails in a form that fits the flavor. So try "Hey SB, did you know that I copped BoomFrog last night and he's totally scum? Like bathroom wall scum, but still, that's gross." instead of "I copped BoomFrog and got scum".

Strong Bad (presumably) doesn't want to help town. There is no need for Strong Bad to be a bad player in my theory.

Alright, I guess that's fair. Can't hurt, anyway. I just want to caution against judging the system as useless or very limited. Maybe I overreacted a bit on you personally, but I think my point is clear.

Act fast! This offer won't last forever, it's Homestar Runner!

Thanks opening narration guy! Today's e-mail comes from one of our very own players:

Dear Homestar,

I sometimes pee my pants. It is very
embarrassing. Do you have any advice
for me?

Sincerely,
weiyaoli

While I've never had this problem before, the answer seems pretty obvious to me. Either don't wear pants like I do or don't pee like Coach Z does! At least, I don't think he does. It'd kinda explain why the locker's don't have bathrooms.

Now if you can't do either of these then I'm afraid I can't help you. Maybe it will just work itself out over time? Anyway, I'm Homestar Runner, and until next Monday, keep the e-mail train a-rollin'.

psst. Are you still there?

Feel free to send in any important Homestarm-e-mails this way too.

I'll answer those along side my weekdaily hremails if you want.

It looks like Homestar's recent emails have no substance or whatever. I'm indulged to think that the mechanic is difficult to utilize. But there can be infinitely possible ways. Let's say Homestar is a mason, and random player is a vigilante. The Vig can talk to Homestar anonymously and let's say, ask to decide who should he target. This gives homestar ability to control of the vigilante, and add to that masons can talk about this. Homestar's reply would be public but there's no information that can seep through right? And what can scum be able to do with a public vigilante proclamation? This mechanic is potentially useful, I'm sure there are alot more possibilities.
So then, Why is homestar so useless right now?

Also Hausdog: I also agree with the majority here that you order around people just because you're confirmed indie or anything.

But as for slbub, I think he's one of the lurkers who survived D2 right? Because of the events in Inception, scummy pings from slbub looks doubtful. He can easily convince people that he is scum. We definitely need more input from him.

I assume everyone caught this? This is grape news, it means Homestar is paying attention. I think homestar has a restriction/incentive to answer random emails, but also is offering here to use it for game purposes. I'll reiterate that we should still try to stay in flavor in the tone of our emails.

Anyone with any copping ability or any info at all really should send it in to Homestar, then he can publish it immediately if it's info on scum or positive info regarding the days lynch target. Or he can publish it later if you die or need confirmation of a claim. Use your role name as signature so he knows who they were from if you die.

FOS Hausdog for not getting it.
You have a power which can be very useful for town. You don't care how you use it since your goal is to eat for four days.
However, just because we know your alignment doesn't mean you can just order us around.
There are different types of independents, some of which aren't necessarily pro-town. If you don't act townie, we will lynch you. And your current actions are not townie at ALL.
Threatening to eat people since they want reasons is also very untownie.

If you continue acting this way, you will be lynched. So stop acting like a jerk and give us some reason for why you wanted those people to claim. And it better be good.

Also, can you eat that satellite or not? This action would really really help town: there is no reason for a person who is pro-town NOT to eat it.

Mr. Dog, you may threaten us but that is a good way of getting yourself lynched. If you continue with threatening to eat someone I am sure people will be more than willing to lynch you. Assuming now that you don't want to be lynched you should just eat the satellite. Besides it has the word light in it.

If you do decide to eat me or anyone else then this will stand,

Vote for hausedog.

After you eat the satellite then I will with-draw my vote. Besides you said that you win condition was to just eat anything four things.

Yeah, you know what? Fuck that.

Everything you've done this game makes me think you're anti-town, and now that I realize that there is a flavor justification for it, it's a pretty easy decision.

You say that all you have to do to win is eat four more things? Fine, go for it. We've given you a couple of options (satellite, Strong Bad's computer) that will keep us out of your hair. But that's not what you're doing, is it? Obviously you're not really telling the truth about your win condition.

Also, didn't you say that eating people only takes them out of the game for a day? That's not the most impressive threat, you know.

I have a question for the Mods.

If Mr. Dog eats someone will they did entirely for the rest of the game or will they be disabled until night or the next day? Can we get some a vote tally please.

On another note,

Mr. Dog wrote,
Maybe people would be more agreeable to following my orders...

What makes you think that you can order people around, besides your insignificant title?

I am not sure Mr. Dog is of an anti-town faction, despite all of the incriminating evidence, but the way he is acting is greatly showing that he is anti-town.
Therefore I ask him, what is your faction?

Strongbad's computer is not a real threat. The satellite is. Eat the satellite or get lynched. No other options.

FoS: Krong for even suggesting not eating the satellite.

If Mr. Dog eats someone will they did entirely for the rest of the game or will they be disabled until night or the next day?

I was referring to yesterday. I agree that the satellite is more important now that we know about it, and if he eats the computer today, then I'll... oh yeah, that's right. I'm already voting for him. I'll have to come up with a further threat.

By the way, I'm not impressed with your FoS'ing, because you've FoS'd Hausdog saying you'd vote for him if he doesn't eat the satellite. Guess what? He hasn't eaten it. Soo... yeah.

Again, Hausdog: If you have to eat 4 more things to win, you've been extremely anti-town / evasive about doing so. Give us a reason to trust you, or you're about to lose.

Well even though the mods said I can eat flavor if I want, they said I can't eat the satellite because it's just flavor. And I asked to eat my ability to die and they said that I can't be invincible. I will continue to try to lawyer my way into eating things that are not good for town, but apparently the satellite is meaningless, just like all sorts of other things in this game.

Do you like presents?

But if you're talking about presents during the present, then yeah, I'd be cool with somebody giving them out. Just as long as that somebody ain't just everybody's anybody. They have to be strong. They have to be courageous. They have to be committed. And they have to actually give good presents.

Well sir, I know of two roles like that. The first is the person who sent it. You'd have to be pretty tricky to fool them off guard. If you can't find them, then I guess there might be some sort of cop or shady seeing-eyes guy that can do the job for you. Maybe they could help.

Well, that's it for now. Class dismissed and give me 12, soldiers!

P.S. Don't do anything stupid, you are two votes away from being lynched.
... I hope this isn't actually true. And if it is, can people please back the fuck off for a moment here? We're not getting anything else out of D2 if we're just lynching the (possibly anti-town) independent and not even look at other people.

I know I haven't been immensely active myself and I'll try to remedy that, but this is just not good.

Either way, votals please? :)

Happy to see the emails are starting up, and doubleplus happy at #5. It looks like Homestar can be a properly useful power role this way.

Hremail # 6: Aturo 9000:

Homestarm-e-mail # 2:

Attention all Skymall employees! This is Colonel Homestar Runner! We have just received a distress call from Gunhaver of the CC-do's:

Homestar! Homestar! This is Gunhaver.
The rest of my crew got killed by the Evil Forces of the Blue Laser!
Our investigation on a man named Krong failed, so I have no place to turn.
I wish I could call in reinforcements from the moon, but I can't.
I don't know what to do...

Scared,
Gunhaver

So what do you think, soldiers? Is this the for real deal? Or just some impostor trying to confuse and/or charm us?

Is it a trick...

or a treat?

Alright, let's go, ten-fore!

As he has at least indicated that he can't eat the satellite, in the interest of not having him suddenly speedlynched, I will

Unvote: Hausdog

Certainly, if he doesn't eat something soon that proves that he is really "neutral to pro-town", I would not mind getting rid of him, especially with the "Municipality" possibility looming.

Look, just because he gave us this doesn't mean he is telling the truth, until he does some thing convincing we need to keep pressure up on him. He could very well be lying!

I do agree that a speed lynch isn't good at all but if it comes out that Mr. Dog is just playing us then we should most deafeningly have at him!

To Mr. Dog, do what is good for us and you will not die, you do have a win condition that you have expressed to us, unless you left out something in it then you have no reason to work against us. If you want to live, explain why you have not eaten Strong Bad's computer yet.

I want to hear from the Moderators if you are telling the truth about the satellite.

You want the moderators to confirm whether something a player said is true or not?
