I'm pretty sure it's because all 3 maps are hand-drawn. The point is that the company is trying to claim that two or more demographics correlate, when the maps actually show nothing.

Augh. @ the commentary on #3: THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS.
Countries like India and China are densely populated BECAUSE, on average, their land is more fertile than Russia or Canada, thus they can support a larger population.
A better map might be a map of population per *arable* land or per food production, or something of the sort (pop. per land-based production?) although I'm not sure how you'd distort that- maybe just color-coded with a regular map projection.
