Ok, he's done crenellating. Now there'll be at least one more frame of him admiring the sand castle, and another one where he fixes some small details. So I'd say that's probably it for the next hour.

Looks like things are coming to an end. I'd now guess that there will be only one more update at 11:30 PM EDT, and after that, it's over and comic 1191 is posted.

Do you think so? He would have to a fit a lot of meaning into one single frame...

I am a new user and I register just to say that this comic may end on this FRIDAY. They might be building a DISNEY sandcastle.

Ok I'm out *flies away*

Ah, it's CLEARLY about Randall getting a baby! You see, the girl put a LOT of work into this sandcastle (baby), even alone. The boy did some work, but he's really bad at it. Because we don't generally tend to have babies.

Perhaps there's no ending explanation, other than maybe the couple standing in front of the completed castle. I like the strip so much because there is no deeper explanation, its up to your own interpretation.

I hope that the comic itself has no deeper meaning than two people making a sweet sandcastle. It wouldn't surprise if Randall just let us all come up with many meanings over the entire two day duration that he posted the progression.

Ok, right. Here's the story: They're hanging out, and at some point a spermy and an eggy meet on the beach ...... they mingle for a bit, then the dude's work is done, and the rest takes place inside future-mommy. She's building the baby, making the little one healthy. He comes in like, "oh, can I help a bit here? uhh .... wait, how do I do this?" Then she goes into the hospital and he's waiting again, and busies himself with the castle to release nervous energy.

This might even be happening almost LIVE! tehe.

This is the BEST frame-by-frame torture over 24 hours xkcd experience EVER!!!

EDIT: I stand corrected. 48 hours.

What will we do if 1191 is another time-based changing comic? :O
What if 1191 is THIS comic, but IN REVERSE? then 1192 will be the punchline, but in the middle. And they will seem to be completely different until they get closer and closer to friday...
What if 1191 is a normal comic, and 1190 just continues like it has been?
What if 1190 stops, and 1191 continues the story the same way?

Oh, and on a somewhat more serious note, I truly hope there's someone watching every moment of the actual xkcd page. If he changes the timing from 30 minutes to say 5 or 10 minutes, these auto-updating scripts based on the half hour are gonna break :/ oh well.

You're worried that nobody is watching the actual XKCD page? I've dedicated the top right corner of my iMac's screen to this comic for two straight days! (And I doubt I'm the only one.)

I also periodically check Aubron's excellent automated gif, but that's just another tab in my browser window along with these forums and everything else.

I assumed most people probably just have it open in their tab, and check it on the half hours, then switch back to this forum or back to doing whatever they were doing in between to kill time. That's what I was doing. Or that they just check the updated gif periodically throughout the day. I guess there's probably any number of people who wrote a simple script to download the image every minute just in case. My bad ;)

It takes time to build a castle. That's the point, and that's it. Just like "Click and drag" had no punchline, neither does this one. Thank you for the show, Randall. *curtains down*
