I don't hate it because it's 'grammatically incorrect', I hate it because it's IMPRECISE.

Random thought just before I fall asleep -

Sand -> Hourglass -> Time?
(Not sure what I'm saying. Maybe the castle is inside a big hourglass. I'd better go to bed now)

Where's that post about trying to divide the comic into periods, because I think this frame definitely starts a new period in the history of Time.

From the IRC channel:

LordCathbad: OOOOOOOOOOOHHHH!
LordCathbad: I realized something!
zatch: what?
LordCathbad: For How I met Your Mother fans who haven't seen last monday's episode... uhm, close your eyes?
zatch: i haven't but i don't care, spoil it
LordCathbad: Ted gave the final date of WHEN they're going to meet. In 45 days after the last episode.
LordCathbad: And it's "Wait for it"
LordCathbad: so it could be a Barney reference.
zatch: really??
LordCathbad: It could go on until [BIGGER SPOILER] Barney and Robin's wedding.
zatch: ahhhh
LordCathbad: which isn't really 45 days, but 49 days later.
LordCathbad: but I think just because the show airs on monday but the wedding probably won't be on a monday
LordCathbad: the season finale is in 2013-05-13
LordCathbad: could it all be related?

Maybe the zoom out will reveal that they have built an entire empire outside of the field of view?

I love how the second the frames start getting less eventful, everyone's like "WELL OK THEN OFF-TOPIC TIME".

To get all #915 about the most recent newpix, I'd say that while it is hard to judge the long term impact and quality of such a new vintage frame, this has all the credentials to become a classic in the same vein as 51 or 105, which I feel stand strongly as two of the finest vintage frames seen for many newpix.

I suggest the following split:

000 - 009 : the debut or what? period: when nobody really knew what was going on
010 - 023 : the dark period: the darkness in the posts of the thread reached heights during these frames
024 - 044 : the sandcastle period: as the sandcastle started to appear, most of the darkness made disappeared.
045 - 074 : the period (second dark period): Initially, this was the 'female period' but I soon realised that would be a pleonasm. Also it was a pretty dark time on the thread.
075 - 087 : the happiness period: the couple is reunited and again the darkness fades.
088 - 105 : the male period: with a climax at frame 103: "the fall of man" frame
105 - 124 : the rebuild period (second sandcastle period).
125 - 135 : the deserted period (?)
136 - NOW : New period. Suggest names please! Still in progress! How exciting!

Weird. At first it seemed the same. Then, about 4 minutes after the newpix, it went to the flag picture. But then it went back to the previous image, and now it's not loading the image at all (404).

I think I might be starting to hallucinate
I'm currently seeing 5be48ef973e98abad7379439d178c501235d8c39597615dcd89eb189ff6d7969.png (currently is 23:11 GMT), but I think I saw the one with more towers and flag flash up for a very short time, or was that the forum threat overlaying my actual image? .... ---> *confused*
can someone with a better head or a backlog check what newpix the one I'm seeing should have been up?

I saw the flags briefly, then the page went down. I'm left pondering if this is an intentional thing or a technological blip.

I'm voting for a second castle, then a war.

My browser keeps showing the previous frame for a split second, and then just shows the text "TIME", but still treats it like it's an image. Aren't web browsers the funniest of things?

For those that say this can't be the same beach as in "Click-in-drag" because there isn't anything there if you go back and look... isn't that what the passage of time is all about? It wasn't there then but it is there now because of the time they just spent building it. There is no rule saying every XKCD slide has to be a snap shop of the same moment in time... extremely emphasized with 1190 and the demonstration of actual time passage.
My Signature is.... Wait for it...
