I move that the 'deserted' period be renamed, as the most recent image is deserted and yet seems to begin a new era. 'Slow Time' or 'Age of the Slow Pixel' are my suggestions.

What are you talking about? This comic has nothing to do with time.

Still not updating for me. Of course, this slip gives away the gist of the next few frames now. I wonder how many frames ahead that accidental one was?

Still no one knows the URL for the first image?
My phone's app seems hellbent on always getting the same image, despite telling it to reload. I don't know if when I first entered (and therefore, the URL it remembers) was during the first image, I might have been a bit late. I also don't know how to find this URL, it must be stored SOMEWHERE on my SD card.

I'll give it a shot.

I tried to catch up with the forum, but I give up, you people are relentless. I managed to get to page 41 (from 35). I have to give up, because I haven't got any work done for nigh on 3 days.

On an actually contextual note, I have enjoyed this comic, not least for the threads on this forum. Alas, that I must wave the white flag.

EDIT: Long time Lurker, probably not first time poster

If the frame was actually accidental, I wonder how this will effect the auto-scrapers...

The new castle (with flags) is what shows up for me right now. It's not accidental.

If you use "Next" or "Previous" to naviagte to the actual comic, it loads the last image for me, hesitates, then updates to:

4107aa0ec3ca43a4a32e96b38af802e6e8f128ba405e408be658cdda709a0927 dot png

But if I reload the page it loads the old image and stays on it:

manvandmaan wrote:If we're going to do the 915 thing, I suggest we go all the way and group certain frames into periods.
I suggest the following split:

000 - 009 : the debut or what? period: when nobody really knew what was going on
010 - 023 : the dark period: the darkness in the posts of the thread reached heights during these frames
024 - 044 : the sandcastle period: as the sandcastle started to appear, most of the darkness made disappeared.
045 - 074 : the period (second dark period): Initially, this was the 'female period' but I soon realised that would be a pleonasm. Also it was a pretty dark time on the thread.
075 - 087 : the happiness period: the couple is reunited and again the darkness fades.
088 - 105 : the male period: with a climax at frame 103: "the fall of man" frame
105 - 124 : the rebuild period (second sandcastle period).
125 - 135 : Age of the Slow Pixel
136 - NOW : The Great Expansion: Still in progress! How exciting!

Three votes for The Great Expansion, is has been added :)

WARNING FOR BLITZERS: SPOILER CONTAINS CURRENT FRAME.

Assuming the expansion was a mistake, does knowing what we're waiting for make it more exciting or less exciting?

Maybe the slip-up was intentional. Kinda like how you can't REALLY see the future, but you can get glimpses of what might happen if the current chain of events continues?

With the latest addition of this psychic glimpse into the future courtesy of "God's" technical difficulties, this comic has now become such a perfect analogy for what I imagine real life to be that I think I really, really need a drink.

Either Randall changed the hash and salt, thinking that people must be onto him by now... or... maybe his algorithm caused TWO identical hashes? :o that could certainly cause a mix-up... in any case... does this mean that Randall IS around? Or, him, and a few helpers taking shifts to make sure everything goes smoothly? I guess we should Wait for it...

After the excitement of the flags, the very small movement we really got just serves to ratchet up the tension. How far in the future did we see, how long do we have to wait for it..? I'm in the UK and running out of time before I need sleep. Last night you guys got through 9 pages without me and it took me most of the morning to catch up. Worth it though to be part of a collective experience like this. Given that it seems likely to enter a fourth day I feel it now compares to going to see a full performance of the ring cycle at Bayreuth, with sleeps between the various performances.

I superimposed 9 frames of the zooming sequence, resized them to match each other, averaged them together, then used some simple deconvolution to sharpen the result. Assuming Randall is drawing these at high-res and then downsampling them for posting, this should have more real detail than can be seen in any one frame.

Here's the list of relative frame coverages I got, plus or minus about 0.01% (note, this is after cropping away the 2 pixel thick frame, making each frame 549×391):
62:30 - 100.00%
63:00 - 100.00%
63:30 - 100.18%
64:00 - 100.50%
64:30 - 101.05%
65:00 - 102.09%
65:30 - 103.12%
66:00 - 104.21%
66:30 - 105.31%
(Make sure you click on the attachment below to see it at full resolution.)

Though I didn't count, I would say we begin seeing it in the next frame or two. This is based on where the sand levels out near the new castle.
