Actually, I would not be surprised if Randall hasn't automated his entire xkcd operation by now. He probably has programs that scan these forums and the web for comic ideas and generates them automatically. Heck, it was probably a program that came up with the idea for this very comic AND ITSELF created the script / AI to generate it.

I maintain that's how the entire Internet works. I'm actually the only real person on here .

I always find AIs that don't realise they're AIs quite poignant. I really should stop releasing them into the wild.

I'm never quite sure which it is with me.

Self-realisation: What if we are all Randall?!!!

This has already been discussed. I don't quite remember the conclusion.

I swear I'm going to have a heart attack

Maybe Randall had a heart attack! And it's conveying through a series of intricate events to make us think of all sorts of scenarios and invariably at one point give you a heart attack!

Or we are all having a collective hallucination while in the process of a heart attack set on by a subliminal action of the first(and only) panel, and while we will someday die we will never know it because we have an infinite set of thoughts and moments to pursue before that moment. Time has become relative driving to the moment of our collective deaths. We will keep waiting for it, but it will never happen. There is an end to the cycle but it require cancerous semen babies named Megan.

Here, take my internets. I can't top that.

Let's stop being so existential now. Let's just accept that we (whether we are Randall or AI or anything else) are here to discuss The Comic. Let's assume that it is our only purpose in creation. Our purpose will not be fulfilled in the foreseeable future. We exist only to serve Time

It's taken awhile but I think we're finally desensitized to Megan leaving the frame--I haven't seen a slew of doomsday predictions this time around. This calls for a celebrat--

Then again...maybe that was the plan all along...to get us off our guard...

I hate it when I look on the clock and it's half a newpix from a new picture. So depressing.

So ... you have to, like, be stuck on Mars or something in order to be bored and fidgety? And what, exactly, was this "boredom and fidgeting" anyway? Why couldn't it just have been relaxing on the beach?

Given your resistance to even jokingly re-interpreting the comic, I find your earlier post explaining your username very ironic.

If you can see a punchline in the sentence to which I responded in your quoted message, good for you. I sure don't see it though - so I don't know why this means I'm resistant to jokes. I pointed out that the conclusion "they looked bored and fidgety, so they must not be on a beach" makes no sense, and the person who wrote it originally has responded multiple times without any indication that it was a joke.

Yes true. But also, I meant on a deeper level, there are always more sandcastles outside the frame.

I'm baking cookies. I've managed to time it so every batch is ready half way through the wait for one newpix, and shortly after a newpix appears. It's a fantastic way to pass the time.

I intended to decorate them with dice for tabletop day, but I'm tempted to make them clocks instead, in celebration of this comic.
