Kay, time to start sacrificing virgins.

Oh well. At least we still have our sandcastle.

We are entering a pixframe of slowness. Perhaps Randall is mimicking history, the castle being the medieval ages and maybe it will progress to show more notable advancements as Time progresses.

I have to assume there wouldn't be a traffic spike - why would there be?

In all likelihood, "Time" has become an in-joke that's almost exclusive to forum goers (We're the only ones being MMONS'd?), or possibly to strange people who obsessively check XKCD often enough to notice that the comic changes. I only found out it was changing when I came to check if I'd "missed the joke" on the forum and it was page 3 of this thread and people were just unravelling that the comic did in fact move.

If you're not a forum goer then you probably came to XKCD sometime Monday, saw a single frame, went "Huh?" and moved on, never to return.

Also, this thread has been gold. <3

I still prefer the original:

To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
and eternity in an hour.

Isn't that what we're doing? Well, almost, at least. Seeing the world in a sandcastle, and eternity in 30 minutes.

Soo.......I guess the question is, why didn't it update at the beginning of the NewPix? Just a random glitch? Or a lag or something related to how many people are trying to view it? Or is it possible that the length of a NewPix going to change?

If we go solely on the amount of forum viewers, I don't think it was lag. I think there may have been another glitch that just took an extra 1/6 newpix to iron out.

His building abilities are nothing without Megan. Cueball needs Megan. She did most of the building. Heck, she started the building in one of the earliest Time Frames. They have to do it together. Oh Megan, where have you gone?

Because anecdata is awesome: I never looked at the forums before unless there was a joke I didn't get (much of the math and all of the programming is over my head). But the single panel and "Wait for it" got my spider-sense tingling, so I peeked at the forums "real quick." Y'all know the rest of that story as you're living it, too.

It could have only affected some of the servers. Remember, we're getting update info from one of eight servers, selected randomly by the browser. So it could have hit some of us, not others.
On the other hand, this explanation doesn't fit so well with my not getting a new image after refreshing. Unless I just failed to notice the tiny difference, which is possible.

Or, since we're talking about sacrificing virgins, it's already left Athens and is probably halfway to Crete by now.
