I've got it - they decided that arches aren't want is needed in between the two castles, and since trebuchets are cool (roughly as cool as fezzes), rather than demolish it by hand (or by Cueball), they decide to use one (a cute little one at that). Once the centre has been obliterated, they will replace it with something else. This is clearly a metaphor about how when we need to do something, we should find the most bizarre, but most interesting, way of doing it. I propose that demolition companies should now be forced to only use trebuchets, or other similar siege equipment to demolish buildings.

Based on the trajectory, I think this projectile is going to land much closer to them. Probably cause a lot more damage. Maybe even knock down one of the big towers. It's so exciting!
