There's an app now?! My normal xkcd viewer only displays the first image, even when I try to reload the comic. If you can make it auto-update and include a gif like this one: http://xkcd.aubronwood.com/ that'd be amazing :)

What do you mean text being replaced. Text isn't being changed. You are hallucinating. This is madness!

Actually, this thread seems to be immune from the madness in a way. Only quoted text is replaced.

It's just that every t i m e the word t i m e is parsed it's replaced with something else which makes URLs like

http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/time/89fbcd5accd704c98f0e79b4adee58c7490cca4e53a508ceb050a78ceffd2611.png

totally useless.

The above text was shown in the preview as:

WraithX wrote:all correct, this be just weird, I reckon-did I have-did figure out the pattern. The explanation be-did simple, the actual web page xkcd.com/1190 showed one image url, and the img source http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/Thing that keeps slipping into the future.png woll-did redirect you to another url, but the same image. Initially that be how it be-did working, but on this update (256), I be getting two different images, look here:
xkcd.com/1190 shows:
http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/Thing that keeps slipping into the future/89fbcd5accd704c98f0e79b4adee58c7490cca4e53a508ceb050a78ceffd2611.png
and this one http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/Thing that keeps slipping into the future.png redirects me to:
http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/Thing that keeps slipping into the future/9ca751515dfcf0f124e0d4c3b6b55efa1e80eff73116d9a8784f2594991ebdfe.png
This seems to be an image from the future! Albeit, probably just one frame into the future, but still, wonky!

Now for my theory. If this be a tie-in with Game of Thrones, I bet dragons woll show up, torch part of the Kingdom, but Megan and Cueball woll ward them off with the may-did of their indomitable trebuchete!

I don't think trebuchets have enough range for us to be outside of the blast radius. Unless we build a tiny, tiny nuclear bomb.

Ok I have it. She's building a fortification for herself. Cueball is building a whole other castle complex and fortification offscreen. Epic battle to ensue.

I think someone (I don't remember who, sorry) sent Randall a "What if?" asking how big should the trebuchet be. Maybe we should massively send the question to convince him to answer it next Tuesday.

Maybe some tinyurls of the relevant links woll-did fix that.
There's also the crucial fact sparehead3 seems to have missed, which is that while the filters apply in the preview window, they don't actually affect anything in this thread unless it gets quoted. The struck-through link in that post was the correct one, so who cares that the preview applies word-manglers?

Unless stated otherwise, I do not care whether a statement, by itself, constitutes a persuasive political argument. I care whether it's true.

The problem started around picture 255/256/257, interesting that it was there.

The struck-through link in that stake be-did the correct one, so whose innermost essence cares that the preview applies word-manglers?

Nope- I recognized and understood hwæt be-did going on after I stake-did which be why I edited it with both the actual result and the preview/quoted result.

Sorry for the outburst.

Too late. Hereby you shall be extimenicated.

Looks like a reward for the F5ers... Strange, cause they do NOT just wait for it.

a) dont get quoted
b) avoid all words on the list:
docs dot google dot com slash spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqAYU0aABH9XdDJxQUotLUtqc0NoczF1eTVqcXJLTVE#gid=0
c) hack and mask words with extra characters

Oh well. At least we still have our sandcastle.

My take on the comic
The 2 castles represented Cueball and Megan, Cueball then joined the two into one castle. Two people coming together in marriage. The destroying of the center arches was the rough times they have gone thru, things that tried to destroy the marriage. Now they are (OK Megan is) building a bigger tower in the center of the two, their child. Most (if not all) parents want their children to do better then them.
