Initiates of Time are fine, and the TimeWaiters are fine, but the TimeWatchers are nothing more than small-minded heretics. Do not forget the distinction.

That's a range of 15-42 frames between rises, with an average of 27.5 frames between a change. If Time in the comic is constant, and the tide is rising at a constant rate (e.g. not adjusting for sine curve), the next rise should be somewhere in the range of 325-330.

I established earlier, Cueball is about 75 pixels tall (originally). Unless I'm mistaken, all the tide adjustments (that you mentioned) have happened during or after the pan, so we're working in new-pixels (about 1.86 original pixels). Assuming Cueball is an average US male (around 176 cm or 5' 9" tall), that makes it so an original pixel = 2.35 cm and a new pixel = 4.36 cm. 5 pixels means the tide has risen around 21.8 cm over the course of the comic. Assuming a fairly normal high tide of a meter or so, over a 6 hour period, if I ignore the characteristics of the sine wave again, I can extrapolate that the entire comic has taken about 1.3 hours for Megan and Cueball.

Now once again, this assumes that time in the comic flows at a constant rate between newpix and that it's a linear tidal pattern, which is likely not the case. Still, it provides some kind of metric for how long it's been going on.

Edit: Hold on, crap. I was looking at high tide from the 0 point, not from low tide. Well, if the tide amplitude was 2m, then the entire comic would be closer to 0.654 hours, or 39 minutes, which seems less likely. Maybe I'm making too many assumptions...

Because they are cupping their hands to help the voices carry towards each other, it prevents the sound from travelling perpendicular to the frame, so we can't hear them.

I always thought that the text didn't show what the comic viewer can hear but what is actually being said (unless Randall decides not to show us those words but only some scribble, e.g. http://xkcd.com/525/), this is why we can "hear" people whispering.

Did eow capture frame 190?

Can you put a time to that? I might well have that myself.

We can rebuild it. We have the technology. We can make it better than it was. Better … stronger … well, maybe not faster.

Look at the thread title! At least, as I'm currently seeing it in the HTML head page title element.

Edit: Significant difference between "header" and "head".

Correction, it is 290 that is missing from the Book of Aubron. I think it was early this morning.

Looking at the sequence & the timestamps, I think that's actually attributable to human error (h/t HAL9000). I'd guess they were expecting it to resume half-hourly at midnight EDT, so put in a number for a frame at 00:30, but then there wasn't a new one, so the result was what you see. The ones I have for 00:00 & 01:00 EDT correspond to 289 & 291 in the aubronwood sequence, and have different frames before and after.

Hey there. Some people were requesting Time slogan shirts so I made a few, there are links on the wiki page. I cannot post a link on my first message here 'cause spam filter :P

If they do make any money, I will of course split it with Randall, the Creator of Time.

Man, Those of you wanking to stick figures are definitely over some kind of line. Also, it's funny to me that people have decided to email randall about forum-specific stuff, when he doesn't read the fora. Your semen jokes didn't weird him out at all, i'm sure.
