I have been lurking here since the beginning of time (and in the vicinity for years prior) but I never felt compelled to join. No, wait, I was compelled to join during the 370th frame, when I was certain that Cueball was building a giant breast. However, this needle-pulling thingy, having spawned its own religion, seemed rather puritanical at the time. Now, since I have seen a few (albeit strange) references to rule 34, I feel I must delurk, simply to share this:

Megan has built a little man; he is waiting for a boat.

Don't think anybody posted it yet...

Looks like she's working on the second set of poles. Another set of scaffolding(?) perhaps? In which case, that little wall she just built could simply be to delay the flood rather than prevent it entirely. She just needs a little more Time.

Perhaps.

Or perhaps that's a container of sea water and she's going to pour it into the water purification device she's been building.

That little wall isn't going to do much good if it's made of sand. Or anything else.

I used to live in a place that used permanent earthen dikes against seasonal river flooding. Useful dikes are much wider than they are tall (the "yo' mama" joke goes here), else the water pressure wrecks them pretty quickly.

That thing she built might last a short while against wave action (which we haven't yet seen). It won't do a thing (other than collapse) if water starts "leaning" on it.

But even if it was wide on top and had 3:1 slopes, it wouldn't stop a tide. If you've ever dug a hole on a beach, it'll fill with water up to the "tide level" pretty quickly, unless you're way way back from the waterline. Sand is too porous to stop water. "Sand filters" are a thing.

That means she can't put anything between the castle and water to stop it. Even if she builds a concrete floodwall, the tide will just soak up through the sand where the castle is sitting, unless she digs down to a non-sand layer...

Wow, this topic went in some new directions since I was last here. Evidently I qualify for being a Cardinal now, since not only did I register to the forum purely for this comic, but thus far this comic topic is the only thread I've posted in :P.

Although my ridiculously long ago prediction of this running for a full year is almost looking less unlikely. Almost.

Hmm... I wonder if perhaps they're building scaffolding and are going to attempt to raise the castle up above high-tide level. Like they worked a big board or something under the entire castle structure, and will soon use ropes or some such to haul it up off the ground.

Looks like she is trying to pull up the next bit all on her own.

My guess is that the expanded time scale of this universe means that she is effectively much stronger than people in the outside universe. Much like small insects have a higher strength to weight ratios than bigger animals.

Also we can prove this by looking at the impulse applied by any action she does http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulse_%28physics%29
Impulse is a force over time and so as the amount of time is longer here the impulse will be larger and she will be able to effectively move bigger objects even though the force she can exert is the same as normal.

But if it's force OVER time, i.e. dividing by time, as the denominator got larger, wouldn't the result become smaller? Unless the numerator was also getting larger (e.g. as time became slower, Megan also ~somehow~ became stronger)

Maybe it's both on a smaller scale, and over a longer timescale, so it effectively evens out.

He may be slow, but it was Cueball that initiated the molding of the mound into the recursive model.

I hypothesize that Megan is the representative of Time, and Cueball the representative of Space. Just as Cueball made it so that scene would repeat itself forever, so is Megan constructing the structure and sea wall so that time will never end. As long as they work together the universe goes on, but if they were to get into an arguement, wait for it...

yeah sorry an impulse is not a force over time its an integral of a force with respect to time. Impulse = Force * (Delta) Time.

Example: If you push ball with a constant force of 10 Newtons for 5 seconds then the impulse which is basically the amount of momentum you have given to make the ball move will be J = 10 * 5 = 50. If you pushed the ball for 20 seconds instead it would be J = 10 * 20 = 200 which would make the ball move further . So the longer you push the more momentum you give to the ball and the further it will move. If the time scale is different in this universe then also the amount of momentum you apply to objects will also increase.

A problem this theory does raise is that gravity force would also be multiplied out by this as well. This doesn't stop you lifting bigger weights though because she would be so much stronger to over come this. However balls or trebuchet ammo etc would fall out of the sky a lot faster because of this extra momentum. They would also be much more damaging...
