I would urge others to make the same vow, but I encourage you to remember: the Inquisition is always watching, and while punishment may be delayed, it is only to teach you the true meaning of the great commandment: Wait for it.

A noble gesture, but alas, I see it as a futile one.

One cannot stop the flow of Time any more than one can stop a raging tsunami of seminatedcoffeecaffienecancerbabbyicewater by firing a mini-trebuchet (hunting model) at it. It simply washes over you and pulls you along with its other debris.

Perhaps now is the time for the infinite loop. In the beginning the field of view zoomed out. Now if it zooms in, it could start from the beginning again.

At the very least, it indicates that in the first frame they may have been resting after a period of heavy labo(u)r [prior to the loop, if such an event will exist] not just sitting there aimlessly as one might first imagine.
We shall find out in Time... if we Wait For It

At the beginning the ground is sloped while the board they're sitting on is flat so I don't think that would work well.

Thanks!!! I'd been wondering about an update of this -- I appreciate you putting it together.

Interesting how Time-forum-posting has stabilized and yet -- It hasn't. Early-Time posters have fallen silent, and new voices have arisen to join in the chorus chaos.

And Time keeps pulsing along...

On this, the Great Thirding Page of Time, I tilt my tri-pointy hat and wave to all Devoutees, after such a long Wait. I have been present from long before the beginning of Time, but not present in textual form. I bided my time to present my humble self, despite the urge to Spectecumulate, despite my growing TimeFaith, despite reading promises of Scisms and Knighting and Breakfasts and Hats and Titlular Accompaniments of all imaginable sorts available to the newly arrived. How could I run ahead of Time itself? So I heeded, and I waited. Now, with great joy, here I join the visible throngs of those waiting for It, if you find me acceptable.

I pray the mods doth grant me the blessing of approval so as to appear indeed on the Great Thirding Page of Time.

Now I must do the requisite post-first-post fasting in post-celebration, reading the travails of BlitzGirl in reverse. My only regret is that I have nothing in my past to offer her. That is, until such a future time as this post is recorded, upon the clicking of the Submit and the approval of the heavenly Mods, and the past-ward direction of these words collides with the future-ward direction of her quest. (In that future-past instance in which you might be reading this, BlitzGirl, I bow my head and raise my eyebrow in a comfy-yet-seductive manner)

Praise be to the mods to have found my introduction acceptable enough and worthy to have been placed in the third post on the Great Thirding Page of Time (333). Huzzat!

It appears Cueball and Megan rebuilt a proper place to wait. Though I fear for the structural integrity of the scaffolding, given that it has no cross beams to our horizontal (the Sea to the right, Hills presumably to the left).

I seem to have misplaced my hunting trebuchet, just when I finished constructing a small wooden badger to use as ammunition... Perhaps spares should be added to the Knights Temporal standard issue gear?

"There must be other rivers, otherwise the sea would dry up".

And the original river has actually receded a bit.

Does this mean that the sandcastles et. al. are on a sandbar between the river (off left somewhere) and the sea (right)? Which is still rising without the flow of the original river? (Unless that's due to the rainfall...).

A final thought for now: if the angle of the new platform is tilted, it could still serve as a basis for recursion.

Been going back to the very first pages, to expierience what BlitzGirl went through...
It's a stange place, compared to now. Javascript and Hashing are the big talk and there are no BlitzGirl encouragement sigs until page 6!

and also

Okay, so we know that the river comes from hills, so the possibility that the river is flowing backwards (as suggested earlier in the thread) is not only unlikely, but now almost entirely disproven given the new information (i.e. that the sea would dry up if this was the only river).

I say "almost" because Cueball could be referring to the fact that the seawater evaporates eventually (where the water comes back as rain is another subject, given Cueball's question of whether it rains over the sea), and thus the sea has less water at certain points. This would require more rivers to make up for the lost water, but would still allow for the original river to flow backwards as a result of something like an earthquake.
Does anybody have any idea of what the hell energy is? It's the thing that, when applied to something, gives itself to the thing so that the thing can expend it, applying it to other things in multiple forms of it. What the hell is it?

And HOW in Lord-Randall's name can we let THIS go without additional comment?!?!?

mscha wrote:Cueball and Megan really don't seem to know much about the world and how it works... Maybe they're the kids from the Blue Lagoon?

There's so much potential for relevant and insightful discussion here! Just think of how many ways this could apply to Megan and Cueball! Just the dialog from the move itself adds so much meaning:

Megan: Well, you're not so perfect either, Mr. Cueball! I've seen you playing with it, and I'll tell your father, IF he ever gets here.
Cueball: YOU...! I hate you!
[throws a rock at her, narrowly missing her]*
Megan: You almost hit me!
Cueball: Take it back! Take back what you said!
Megan: I've seen it all! What happens after you've been doing it a long time?
Cueball: Shut up! That's not fair peeking! I don't peek on you!
Megan: That's a lie! You're always staring at my buppies.
Cueball: Only 'cause they look so funny! You know what you look like now, Megan? You look like one of those pictures Paddy had in his drawer. One of his hootchie-cootchie girls!

Maybe they were worried that they'd end up with one of the cross-beams out askew.

So they're trying to figure out why the sea level is rising faster than usual... it's not the rivers, it's not the rain... is it a comment on climate change?

I searched the thread and found two posts about this, but it doesn't look like anybody paid attention to them, so I'm going to reiterate them:
xkcd comic #4
The alt-text is "There's a river flowing through the ocean". In this comic, the river has reached the ocean (in Time, though, it's a sea"), but in a different way than expected.

Then there is the island in the previous comic that definitely has hills a river can come from, but the new image makes me wonder if the river they're talking about is actually partially subterranean like this river.
Does anybody have any idea of what the hell energy is? It's the thing that, when applied to something, gives itself to the thing so that the thing can expend it, applying it to other things in multiple forms of it. What the hell is it?

Much. And as Sir/Dame BlitzGirl has shown us, you must read it all.

They've decided they should kick things off with a fancy dress-up party, but have had a hard time putting it together. They keep firing the cannon ball planner...

I think it might be dialog.

Okay, so a treadle is the pedal-thing that you see on looms and old sewing machines and things like that which are used to power a machine.
That's all I have.

So does that mean that Time is going to vaguely allude to all of the Othercomics, in order? And we're only at #4 or so...
Oh lordy.

Oh lordy.

It might be a bit difficult to include a reference to the fifth comic.

Perhaps. And how baby-infused coffee may be contributing to global warming...

Litany update, if it please you, Oh great Omelette elemtropy:

Spoiler:
The Litany of The Waits:
Leader: Later!
People: Bye!
Leader: Wanna swim?
People: Yeah!
Leader: Pffthh
People: *cough*
Leader: You ok?
People: Just got some in my mouth.
Leader: Any idea where the river is now?
People: Still pretty far out. It's actually retreated a little this week.
Leader: I don't understand what the sea is doing.
(All observe a meditative silence)
Leader: I don't think we can build it much taller than this.
People: It's been fun, though!
(The leader makes a sipping sound)
Leader: Pfffth Pthuh! Yuck.
People: I've had worse.
Leader: Guess one of us should climb down.
People: Yeah.
Leader: The sea is rising.
People: Yeah.
Leader: Sea level rises and falls, right? It's changed before.
People: Not this fast.
Leader: The river hasn't even reached the sea yet.
People: The river is small. The sea is big.
Leader: How big?
People: I don’t know.
(Several beats of silence are observed.)
Leader: Does it Rain on the Sea?
People: I don't know; if it does it seems like a waste.
Leader: It rains in the hills where the river comes from, right?
People: Sure.
Leader: Are there other rivers?
People: I don't know.
Leader: There must be other rivers.
People: Otherwise the sea would dry up.
Leader: Maybe it's coming out of the ground.
People: Does that happen?
Leader: I don't know.
