I tend to agree.

But imagine how much longer this thread could become (and the number of denominations of the religion that could be spawned) if an indistinct figure was seen to be entering the frame from one side immediately prior to the total whiteout.

... might this fade to white be the end of a chapter, and could we see it fade in on wherever it may be that they have left too?

I'm actually hoping the fadeout accelerates, so that it can be followed by a fadein. I keep thinking that maybe Lord Randall is going to show a significant period of elapsed time using the typical movie/TV trick of fading out, then fading back in, with the sandcastle reduced to an almost-smooth pile of sand with flags sticking out of it.

Only then will Megan and Cueball return from their journey, hopefully with insight and wisdom to share with all of us.

They've shown M&C away before without fading out. I'd imagine it fades back in to some other place, an unfamiliar shore, or a lone Ikea on the middle of a desert island.

If Time is about to end (which I don't think it is), we can all follow the performance of John Cage's ASLSP.

honestly, i don't think it's likely. i don't think randall will continue making new frames much longer. i have two theories:

loopist:
it fades in to the beach from the beginning with M&C coming back and saying something the likes of "the sea went away, let's start over", which would explain the wood, rope and flags being there, washed further left by the sea

non-loopist:
white-out, nothing else.

imho, if noone shows up to save the flag, then Time as we know it is really over.

Time exists! Whether the flags fall or everything fades to white or the Rheinmaidens sing again1. So long as a single .png remains somewhere Time will exist!

1The sea2 rises to the top of the frame.
2OK, incorrect, as the Rhein is a river and not the sea. My bad3.

Up to #616161.

I'll admit that there's more to say about frames with dialogue or castle building or strange new characters than about a frame that's done nothing but fade a bit more. Still, how many people have given up? This thread has averaged better than 12 pages a mundane day for over 5 weeks, and yet, in broad daylight in the Americas, newpage 433 took over 5 hours to fill. Oh, my.

Follow this guide to correct your color profile to view the fade out as Randall intended.

I had to set mine to 0 to get the right effect, other may only need to set it to 1.

Interesting take on "fade to black"...

I too wonder what the ultimate image at xkcd.com/1190 will be. Staying a single white page would be boring; perhaps it will simply start cycling through the frames again? Randomly selecting frames from the series? I can see those of us who use the 'random' button regularly coming across one of the frames and thinking, "oh yeah, I remember when"...

BlitzGirl has just come online. At the same time that La Petite walks into the frame, that can't be a coincidence, IMO that's sufficient proof that BlitzGirl == La Petite.

(“Location: Traversing the thread of Time: 385/414 pages.” So, unless she forgot to update this in a while, BlitzGirl has a lot of catching up to do. It's almost certain she won't make it to the future present until Time is faded out.)

For a while, you couldn't sign onto Spotify without using a Facebook account. Luckily, that has changed, but you have to look pretty hard: there's a big button for Facebook, and a tiny link to just register with your e-mail address.
