Has anyone claimed the squirpy yet? I want the squirpy...

Edit: Sortaninja'd by mscha... do you claim ALL molpies or just the ones of unidentified species? 'Cos I still wanna claim the squirpy.

I had never seen it or even heard of it, and still the Molpy Grapevine version was hilarious; but knowing what it spoofs makes it even funnier.

I didn't realize this post was a reference. I thought it was just random (triggered by some earlier discussion of an otherComic. Interesting to see, as Paul Harvey would say, "the rest of the story".

BlitzGirl wrote:Oh, and since I forgot to claim anything earlier when everyone was doing that, I claim LaPetite.
Knew it! But can you actually claim yourself? Doesn't that lead to some sort of infinite recursion?

I present this next hat with both joy and a heavy heart.

This hat is for Vytron, for having made it to the present (ok, it's taken me awhile to do it). Congratulations, voyager! But, I also present it to him for another very special reason. You see, I must close the BuffyDashery for an as yet indistinct period of time, rendering this hat possibly my last.

I am very pleased and honored, however, to name Vytron as my successor, Maker of Hats for the OTT. Carry on the tradition with pride, Vytron!

Just retiring from hatting, not from the OTT. I was having to choose between reading the OTT or making hats, couldn't do both. And it took me like 2 wips to complete these last 4 or 5 hats. So I decided I should throw in the towel and enjoy this needle-pulled thingy without any other pressures!

Thanks for the molpies (and grapevines)!

Woo! But you know what they say, two hatcakes are better than one! :D
Speaking of hatcakes, have some hotcakes shaped like hatcakes:

After I typed that previous comment, I remembered something HAL9000 once said a long time ago, and went to search for it:
HAL9000 wrote:I made a logo for us Knights earlier, too! Which means we can have a flag! Every proper army needs a flag.
The logo can be found in this post.

The logo is definitely cool, but the shape doesn't really seem appropriate for a true flag. HAL, do you want to try to reshape it or redesign it into a shape more appropriate for a traditional flag?

Aww, our milliner is retiring! *quickly scribbles down some notes for The Case of the Little River*

While we're on the subject of staking claims on parts of the OTC, has anyone claimed the treeneat yet? If not, it's mine :D If someone has, or regardless, then I also claim the bench!

Before I'm really gone, here's a final Molpy Report.

HUZZAH for Vytron, the next Hatter of the OTT!

Did you see that? The price of used buffygirl hats on eBay just skyrocketed. (Not that I'd ever sell mine!)1

We'll miss your amazing works of art, buffygirl! And good luck in your new role, Vytron! You have some huge shoes (heads?) to fill! :-)

1What is the unit of currency in the OTT, anyway? We could make a case for it being the BuffygirlHat (BgH), but that's too precious, and we'd be dealing in microBgHs for everyday transactions.

Re: 1190: "Time" Naming or Owning

Postby charlie_grumbles » Mon Jun 03, 2013 12:33 am UTC

I thought we started out claiming naming rights to things. Now we are suddenly, in my view, claiming ownership rights. I'm much happier with naming rights being claimed and ownership residing in the tribe.

Or, claiming stewardship over things on behalf of the tribe. That sounds about right.

Otherwise it feels kind of grabby.

Just one o' the elders talkin' but it seems important.

gawrsh. I got one of the last buffygirl hats! I am sobered and honored.
Seen as how you're passing on your millinery to Vytron, you should share your process with the OTT. How do you make these beautiful head coverings?

You didn't notice my attempts at hatmaking that occurred while you were gone? kenmelken's multitude of hats was created by me, as was the santa-hat-toting Fluffy that I uploaded for charlie_grumbles as a reward for his "we are a Tribe" post, which I don't think he noticed.
Regardless of who holds the official title, I'll continue my bootleg millinery.
I find that I am the Vatican Milliner's Perfect Customer yet again. How fitting.
