I love that a caption is completely unnecessary on this.

I don't get it. Therefore, I think it needs a caption.

Sorry, I figured most people would get the reference, and for those who do, it would be even funnier without the caption.

Just stumbled upon this (via the corner of the internet that steals all it's content from the creative corner), which seems relevant to one of the recurring topics of the OTT

Another fun thing he did in the class was show pictures of common objects (such as the wheelbarrow) and ask students to write down what they were called. Some of them included:
- a bottle containing a carbonated beverage
- the valve-like device attached to the side of your house that you might attach a garden hose to
- a paper container that the grocery store puts your purchases into so you can carry them out

Naturally, each of these had more names than people realized.

In order of how likely I am to use each word:
Soda, the name of the specific beverage, Cola, drink or pop. I try to avoid pop unless I've heard a native use it.
Faucet, spigot or tap.
Bag or sack.

- 'coke,' and occasionally 'soda.' Never cola, pop or (as some ethnic groups in the south say): cold drink - pronounced: drank.
- Spout or spigot. Faucet is something I'd say about an inside equivalent (like in the kitchen sink or bathroom sink).
- Bag.

Wow, speaking that out loud made me extremely conscious of my accent.

Admiral Ackbar famously says the following in Return of the Jedi:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piVnArp9ZE0

and thus has become a symbol of traps. He has been parodied and meme-ified (different that mummified) ever since. My favorite parody:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQljzQ_FpUE

Ah!
I know the quote, but never bothered to find out where it came from (from Outer Space, I see. Did they use the Plan #9 to escape?).

HalcyONG (sorry if I ONGed this before, but it's relevant)
Image

And, in order to celebrate my 400th post, I present for evaluation The Last Time Waiter, chapter 3: Halcyon Days.
Spoiler:
Thanks to a kind of magical carriage that ran on metallic roads and achieved speeds far greater than anything imaginable, the trip to Halcyon was relatively quick. The city was unlike any other anyone in the Party (except by buffygirl, who had been at a similar place before) had ever seen: the buildings, made of metal and glass, seemed to reach the sky; there were no signs of undomesticated molpies or raptors anywhere; the city's walls involved the entire mountain on which it was based off. The Party was transfixed.

Halcyon was a City of Engineers; together with Nublar (the City of Artisans) and Arkhmud (the Gateway City#), as well as some minor cities, it formed the Northern Lights, the greatest center of technological knowledge and advancement known. Such was their power that the Northern Lights could very well control the entirety of the known world, if they ever wanted to, and no one would oppose. Fortunately, the citizens of the Lights weren't of an expansive mentality; as long as you let them live in peace, they wouldn't burn you to death with a light amplifier.

man wrote:I believe that you are the party coming from the South?

The deep, low voice of the man (if that being was indeed human) startled the Knight Temporal.
BlitzGirl wrote:Y… yes, we are. We came to meet with Mr. O'Connor, the so-called Engineer of Infinity.

man wrote:Oh, I see. A business meeting, I presume?

Pope Helper the First wrote:Yes. A project essential to the continued survival of the Time Waiters.

man wrote:Well, it's not difficult to find him. In fact, he lives and works above that rock.

The man pointed to a structure, located above a gigantic block of solid rock, that looked more as a military facility than as a house.

The Party parked their molpyraptors next to a nearby gate and followed to the Engineer's home. As soon as they got to what seemed to be the facility's main gate, a voice greeted them from behind:
The Engineer wrote:You're late.

#The Gateway Station would yield such a beautiful painting…

Just chimONG1 in to say that I'm not gone, just busy. Thankfully, I'll find myself with nothing to do for long stretches of time over the next week, which should facilitate an easier Blitz.
Don't worry, I'll be back soon, for a week at least. But after that, I'll be off to Germany for three weeks. I'm sure it'll be great fun, but I won't have much time for the OTT while I'm there. I suppose I'll have a nice long chunk of pages waiting for me when I return early in July.

1: Well, I was going to post the ONG, but the server is yet again being weird for me. Happy waiting!

HAL!!!! We've missed you! (btw, your centipopeship is only good for 7 more NPs. If you time things right you could renew it.)
In Svithjod, there stands a rock. It is 100 miles high and 100 miles wide. Once every 1000 years a little bird comes to this rock to sharpen its beak. One time, I changed just the last sentence of this signature, and lots of you noticed. Image

I guess Dr. Chandra managed to get him up and going again.

I wondered that a while ago, and fed some of the dialogue into this fabulous contraption. It didn't like 'campsite' and 'retreated' at which point I gave up on that idea, but I then spent several hours upgoering things and getting completely enthralled over here. I don't have a PhD to upgoer, but this is a description of my job. I know there are a few learned characters around here - anyone want to share their upgoer-ed dissertation or research?

And ggh you are making me homesick with your kumara and your ruru-raptors! I've been over the ditch for many years but there's a lot that I miss.

is interesting. I missed the joke since
Spoiler:
I missed Dr. Who altogether. But it requires knowledge of The Doctor and also knowledge of "Who's on First" which is a bit ancient now.

Don't worry about it, I do watch Doctor Who, and know “Who's of first”, and still didn't get it. Image

I got the joke, but had to think for a second. the alt text, on the other hand, still has me stumped.

Ah, HAHAHAHAHA! Gotcha!

I caught the Grand High Lord Inquisitor, Head of the Inquisition acknowledging the existence of the OtherComic, like an outsider! There's only One True Comic!

I now sentence you to sentence yourself!!

Or you can point at laugh at me, of course.
Go! Go! You can do it username5243!
Cheers Marsh'n!

Wait well, my friends.

Having gone away (and come back), I have to say life is very different without the OTT. It can be ... forgotten ... if you're heretical enough. But I'm seeing this through to the end!

Also exams and holidays and various outsider things are starting to happen.

I have to say though, the thought of a 120+ page ketchup is a little daunting. I think I'll skip to the present and work on a little side project instead...
Quick poll, how many people own Portal 2?

I do! I do!

Oh, oh oh oh, are you...going to make a map? Damn, it's ALL connected, I've been making portal maps for years!

Newpix-O-Meter v3.0

Now with 10 major divots and 50 minor divots, for maximally precise Waiting!
Refresh it a few times, the gears move! :D

Cool!
Idea: perhaps generate an animated gif with moving gears...
Or an animated gif where the hand moves every 2 centinewpix, so it'll remain accurate as you keep the page open.
(I guess you can't combine the two without making it a HUGE gif.)

Hmm, something to bear in mind. It's difficult because I don't think PHP has any GD functions for making animated gifs, so I'd have to explore more complex software.

This be my 200th post! In order to celebrate in similar fashion to my centennial GIFt (hidden in the first spoiler if you don't know what I'm talking about), I present to you my Bicentennial GIFt. :) Enjoy.

By the way, it's a triple-stacked chocolate cheesecake.

Not too late, and 3+ people is a worthy audience... [evil robotic laughter]

As I said above, I have experience mapping... *nudge* if you need any help... :P

You have correctly put 2 and 2 together... I'll be honest, I haven't entirely worked out what or how I'm going to do this, but it gives me an excuse to play around in hammer (as fun as the in-game editor is, it's simplicity leaves it lacking). If I need to outsource anything, I'll throw you a snake. (May have mixed up my metaphors there...)
