Interesting to note that we actually have a name for this beesnake - "facebug" - when we haven't gotten one for any of our other beesnakes. Or our molpysnakeB. Or the squirpy, chirpies, sparrow-raptor, ribbit, or birds-by-any-other-name.

I'm hoping to see STID tonight at the drive-in (if I can stay awake)! IM3 was okay, but I found it odd that it was Xmas in May/June! :(

Well, the oddly timed Christmas won't be weird to me, at least. Our TV seasons air in the middle of the year, with Christmas in the middle of the break between seasons, so it's kind of traditional for a US show to have Christmas at the wrong time of year.
Wait for it.

i don't know that one, and i'm not about to try it, but in general, the various Zotter chocolates are delicious, if strange.

I agree with this. Zotter chocolate is very good, but he does experiment a lot with flavours. Not all experiments are successfull though. He also takes his Fair Trade pledge rather seriously.
I once visited his chocolate factory and we got a tour for two. It was very interesting and entertaining.

Mine too... though I would clarify "not all beesnakes are necessarily facebugs". It's the old saw about an engineer and mathematician seeing black sheep from a train.

BlitzGirl wrote:Is Megan walking toward camera, or imitating a stork in the hope of catching a fish?
Or perhaps just scratching herself with her foot? I would say that if she's fishing by imitation, either she's quite dumb, or the fish are quite odd. So far, molpies seem to be less odd than our lead characters. :)

Let's hope to GLR it does not turn out to be one of these. (Pre-click note: no gruesome images, but the article is kind of eeew...)

Eww, hopefully not that kind of facebug.

Speak of facebug classification, I think it goes something like this. In the comic's Kingdom Animalia, there's two known phyla: Molpya and Lineavolucris (a latin-ish classification I just made up meaning line-bug). Under Molpya you have some classes that correspond to Outside classes, such as Aves, Reptilia (or perhaps the two are more blurred in the OTC, in some kind of Avereptilia for raptorbirds), and of course a Mammalia analogue of some kind for the small furry molpies. Under Lineavolucris we have the class Apiserpens (beesnakes), one order of which is Voltovolucris (facebugs).

Anyone who actually speaks latin, I apologize for any conjugation faux-pas I may have done there, but I was making up words anyhow... :P

Hmmm. Megan's just flat-out vanished. Maybe the fish she was hoping to catch by playing stork were raptorfish, and she just became dinner.

That might be in the class Molpamphibia, but it's a little ambiguous as we only have 1 specimen to classify off of. It's different enough from the flying types of molpies that I think it gets its own class though.

A different slice of Time...perhaps one of many, perhaps thousands of different frames of reference all revealing small fragments of a large and complex manifold floating through space, in a constant state of flux but yet fundamentally unchanging in its composition.

Which brought me back to OtherComic #1221, and the Wrinkle in TIME reference in the title-text.

C'mon Meg, how long does it take to pee...

Anyway I went on a pleasant walk this morning and saw many molpyflies and beesnakes (luckily no facebugs) and chirpys and even a molpybunny, and also this tree...

...which I had to stop by and comment that it was pretty "neat".

I know I was advocating for Megan to ditch Cueball all those newpages ago, but when I said that, I was hoping we would be following her.

No, newpixbot, we were looking for something in the area of Africa and/or Madagascar. But kudos for finding a fish when we're near a riverish river.

Oh my goodness, I am back in the present at last. I haven't seen the end of the thread in over a month.

Warning: ancient thread off-topic topics contained herein:
Spoiler:
Regarding the plural of "Lego", I think the major stumbling block here is that as a brand name, "Lego" is not technically a noun but an adjective. Of course language is rife with adjectives that pass into slang usage as nouns when the actual relevant noun starts getting dropped.

As for "wheel-barrel", I suspect it is the wheelbarrow version of "for all intensive purposes", which is what happens when people don't actually know the words being used but need to write it down, and land on the nearest familiar word that sounds very similar.

This has weird implications for current American national politics.

HAL9000 wrote:The best part of this song is that you have to pronounce 'our' with two syllables, thus making it sound the same as 'hour' (which is both one of the words in the original song AND the rate at with Time updates).

Hm? I don't know about your regional dialect, but in mine the h is silent and "hour" and "our" sound exactly alike. Well, I suppose "our" gets slurred into sounding like "are" a lot of the time. That's probably how regional accents get started.

Speaking of Lego sets, I think I only bought this because of the OTC.

Oh, and one last thing:

I told the witch doctor you didn't love me too
And then the witch doctor, he told me what to do
He said that ....
