Had to go to images.xkcd.ONG to get this for some reason, javascript keeps retrieving last newpix's

How chivalrous! Cueball clearly has very high regard for Megan...almost, one might say, as that of a man to his wife.

Or an (adult) brother to his sister.

Or as a typical nerd to any nearby female. For example, I'd have done something similar. Except that I probably wouldn't have gone on this trip to begin with.

I'm reminded of a news report of a gadget show recently. The reporter came across a 3d tv stand. He put on the 3d glasses and about 2 seconds later took them off and said "that's enough of that".
I think they only pushed 3d hoping the files would be too big to pirate; as that failed they are going for 4k HD for the same reason.

I like 3d. I feel it makes for a better immersion in the movie. Not that it was really needed, I could lose track of time while watching a movie already, but it gives better immersion. I do hope my current TV holds a couple of years longer, but when it joins me in the Great Beyond I am hoping for a film marathon with mostly 3d movies. That would require a passive-glass 3d TV due to large audience size.
Sadly film marathons don't last as long as they used to. Once we had one of 36 hours, nowadays I am glad if we reach 15 hours.

WIKI UPDATE: I've now finished this shiny new entry on the Fluttermolpy discussion period. Hope y'all enjoy it.

I noticed that someone has already begun articles for the two most recent periods. I greatly appreciate that. Better to have something there than empty links! I do look forward to expanding and updating them a lot however. :) Especially since the article on the raptorcat attack still seems unaware that the right-side object was merely mustard. Also, the link rerouting problem I mentioned yesterdip now seems fixed. Sorry I got madder than warranted about that.

Oh. and a code: .sdrawkcab si ecnetnes siht

Spoiler:
this sentence is backwards.

Sorry for the double post, but that code I threw in at the end of my last post was, admittedly, very lame. So, I wanted to give y'all something better for those out there who are really itching for a challenge. I really don't want to give away the answer in a spoiler, as I want to see who is smart enough to solve it first, but if you are blitzing, I will tell you that you aren't really missing anything here. The message is merely a congratulations for solving it. Nothing special. I just don't want to give the exact wording away to see if someone can figure it out.
Here it is:
.--. -.-- -... - --.- -... .-.. .-. -... -. . --.. .-. --- .. -.-- .- --. ..-. .-.. .-.. .. .-. -.-- - ...- -... --- -... ...- . ...- . -... -.-- ...- .... -... .-.. - -. .- .. - -. .... ...- .-. --. ..-. ...- .--. . ..-. .- .- .... ... .- -... .-. -.-- --. --.
Spoiler:
Sorry. No answer in here! I was serious, though. You aren't missing anything special. It is merely a congratulatory message. I'm sure someone will solve it eventually here on the thread, so the answer will be seen in due time. In the mean time, you'll just have to wait for it (or solve it yourself if you're a little genius). ;)

Very nice summary, kenmelken. :)

Spoiler:
I was going to add that I thought "flutterbee" was the more common term on the OTT (versus "fluttermolpy") but then realized how silly that debate is on a thread full of semencoffeebaconcancerbabiesonicewithacherryontop.

Thank you for the feedback and the pokeymolp. :) I saw both come up, and decided to just run with one of them. I've thought of adding lists of all known nicknames for molpy guest-stars during periods like this. (Like in the last one, where "pricklymolp" edged out "pokeymolp" in the title, only because Cueball actually used the word "prickly" and thus it seemed slightly more canonical). After all, all of the various names we make tend to be endearing and contribute to the discussion. I just haven't gotten around to adding those sections yet. :)

ETA: btw, this week's what-if, reference earlier in the NP, actually marks a year since he began the what-if blog! Yay!

Does this make you now double deceased???

Btw, I've finished yet another wiki summary. This one was much shorter and easier to write: The Weird Tree Period. 'Twas a simple little period. Enjoy.

Is she actually feeling much better (or at least was, before she landed)?
Did she simply misjudge how much a simple leap might further injure her leg?

I agree that the OTC is tapping into aspects of soap operaticality, but in a very unique way given the format, and Blitzgirl's set of questions is a beautiful example. We know some of the history of these two characters, and have an idea of their personalities; given a series of images with a few pixels altered each time, we can use that information to speculate, hypothesise, imagine and wonder to our heart's content. Because this is a particularly geeky soap opera, we the audience are particularly active in our appreciation and analysis of it. The enjoyment is not in passively sitting back and being told the story; it's in the process of telling the story to ourselves.

FWIW, I'd say it's a combination of the first three - the same reaction she had to "I don't think we can build it much higher than this".

About the soap opera: good analysis, but can't you say that for pretty much every story? The difference with the OTC is that we get an hourH between newpix to analyze the mustard out of the last one. I bet that, if you post a sentence of War and Peace every hour, it'll become a soap opera too.

And I also think it's a combination, of all four of them. But mainly, it's Cueball's sweetness getting on her nerves. (She knows he means well, and that the smart thing is to let him help her, but for Randall's sake, she's supposed to be the strong one. So she jumps.)

Luckily, not much harm done, it seems.

It was trying to wait for the newpixbot.

Wait ... are you suggesting that GLR (and/or his servers) are waiting for it here in the OTT? What if GLR is one of us!?

My theory is that the Newpixbot threatened the server into delaying the frame so it could catch it without impunity. Next step will be to force GLR's server to only serve the frame to the Newpixbot untill 0.2 newpix after the real ong.

Poor old newpixbot... It was getting so excited about getting an ONG in, and then slinches comes along... Image (I think newpixbot is considering changing its diet from crabs to snails...)

I have no idea whether newpixbot is messing with anything, but it got the newpix withing 3-4 secondsH of ONG, every time.

Oh well... It still gets one in once in a while (including the second-last one, where it apparently predicted that Cuegan is going to pass along this scene without stopping or talking), so it should stop feeling sorry for itself.

But those skills are all just the tip
I love to scan and to skim and to skip

Megan and Cueball are the weremolpies. They have changed from leopardmolpies to stick figures. Lucky is Cueball's (ex?)mate and has come to punish Cueball for his infidelity. After getting hit with a stick, she ran home to eat all the ice cream in the house and watch Twilight over and over again until she is filled with such a white hot rage that she will turn into a screamingcrazybitchmolpy and kill them both with her laser eyes and telekinetic death space rays.
