The three servers that take care of the redirect of time.png to the current epilogue frame (c.xkcd.com == 107.6.97.99, 107.6.97.101, 107.6.97.102) were having trouble once again, often timing out.
On top of that, it looks like the time on 107.6.97.99 is running slightly behind. That means, that if the check at ONG:00 takes place at 107.6.97.99 and is successful, it returns the previous frame. If it takes place at one of the other two servers, the problem does not occur.
I have taken 107.6.97.99 out of rotation in my checker script. (And I'll probably just edit the previous results to pretend this never happened...)

Isn't it odd for a server to run an hour behind? Could it have forgotten to wind its watch?

HES! Outstanding! I wish we had an Museum of Modern OTT that that could be hung in.

Isn't it odd for a server to run an hour behind? Could it have forgotten to wind its watch?

It's actually only about 7 seconds (at this time), the HTTP headers tell me. But that's just enough to give me the wrong frame when I check at the top of the ONG.
Still, even running 7 seconds behind is indeed odd, IMO: a well-configured server should always be running NTP, and thus always be within a few milliseconds of actual time.

ggh wrote:ETAAETnot a palindrome: mscha, how hard would it be to keep an eye on the slow server as well? I was thinking that there might be a remote possibility that it could do something slightly different at the deviant ONGs....

Not really worth the effort, I think. It really seems to be just a server running 7 seconds behind.

The guineamolp/buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo discussion reminds me that I don't understand the avatar of our backwards time panda. I'm kinda assuming that it's a panda, but I always see an elephant's head with the trunk on the right. Can someone tell me what I should be seeing?

Huh, I just realized there's there a second way to read buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo, though it's a bit more redundant.

ETA: just saw your post, mscha. Yup, 7 seconds doesn't sound very significant. Thanks for being so on top of all this!

Helps! Seeing the body makes it easier to see what I should see with the head. The black on top though: I thought it was a wee hat, but it's sorta in the original... ear?

Yeah it's an ear. I don't know why its black, maybe it just has a shadowy cloud solely above the ear. I think it looks cool and unique though.

Nooo! Not the amoeba!

You're right - it does look cool and unique! My brain just parsed it wrong the first time, and has been reinforcing that interpretation ever since, so it's gonna take a bit of untraining.
The darkness of the ear makes sense to me too when I see the original. It just gets a little exaggerated in the resizing, and when everyone's got a hat... I'm not going to scold my brain too much for wanting to see a hat there.

Right, well, molpy down time for me. Shoulda been in bed hours ago.

Heyyyy, Neat Sandcastle
Co - co - co - co - Coma Molpy Style
(Technically I'm OTTifying Minecraft Style because it has English lyrics I can actually see the rhyme and rhythm of it.)
Thoughts/suggestions?

(edit: note: some words need emphasis on the wrong syllable to fit :P)

When I was reading this, my mind was trying to put the words to the "instrumentals" from Gangamcut, from the album Psybrid Theory by the band Gangam Park: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxRsBMp804M
Much better than the original "instrumentals" to those lyrics.
In a comically tragic turn of events, Addams didn't die. You can help her here.

Does the basement ever end?

Good luck to all the Blitzers out there!

Is the real flappy bird as difficult as this ascii version? Damn, it took like 30 tries just to get through the first gate.

5! Er, what are we talking about?

Chirping Mustard! I don't have the full week off, I have lectures 10-5 HHT tomorrow, but I only just molpied up (19:10 HHT). I'm going to have to take an unorthodox coma approach to deal with this one...

Well, maybe he woke up to the truth.

As for flappy bird: I was quite happy with a 1.
