It's still not been established where they got those flags from. What are they even made of?

NP 2012? They're rowing for the Olympics!

Time Olympics would include sprinting, water-sprinting, swimming, sailing, boat-building, sandcastle-building, raptorcat-pouncing...
Titled TheMinimastic as of NP 1610.

第二十四章

(chapter 23)

Imagebot does not respond. As Morobu gets closer, he can hear that she is beeping and trilling softly to herself. A gull glides by, rising without flapping. It loops, steadily rising and without moving a wing. Imagebot watches it for a while, until it is almost out of sight; only when she looks back down does she notice Morobu.
  「守炉部さん!
"Hello. A bit epsilon seeing you here. Has the TARDIS broken down again and left everyone stranded?"
"あなたは英語を話している ... uh .. you're speaking English. ... Hello mrob27. I had to adjust my language settings. What did you say?"
  "Why are you here?"
The bot smiles. "With the long hiatus in Blitzing, Timborme thought it would be nice to visit Japan. We could tell it would be a while, as we haven't heard a pip out of you since you started Q04B."
Morobu blushes; imagebot continues. "It is common courtesy for long-time visitors to help with community projects. So at the start of the traditional Satsuki mountain-painting I came up to help, as any good bot would. I've been projecting tilt. Pretty good, huh?"
  "You did this?"
"Well, I and a few thousand otherbots, yes. Pretty good tilt, huh?"

I'm not convinced of the seaworthiness of those little raftcastles for crossing the Ligurian Sea from northern Sardinia to Marseille...

ergman wrote:Lucy, why are you apologizing? It's scary when someone apologizes and you don't know why. It's like I'm about to be sacrificed to a volcano, or you accidentally at my meowlpy. What does it mean to paint the If red?

Can someone please explain what @ergman is talking about here? I thought it was @AluisioASG's story, but there is no "Lucy" there. I also looked at the SilentONGs (which I download with a script). If it's because I can't view images, maybe someone could tell us what post contains the image (so I can download it manually) and/or describe the image (so I can see Lucy volcano-jumping in my imagination). Is the volcano Mt. Fuji?

Funny thing about fermenting your own sodas, if you leave them too long they become over-carbonated and overflow the bottle when it's opened. I think somemolpy's over-fermenting the ketchup...

I'm reading Existence by David Brin. I love the way Brin incorporates bits of in-story media. His books often deal with paradigm shifts, sometimes directly as in Earth and Existence, and sometimes as backdrop like in the Uplift series.

@BlitzGirl: sorry about your wolpy loss. :(

A punsawing competition seems appropriate for the OTTlympics. You get random things shouted at you, some of which are puns, and the person who punsaws the most puns in a given amount of Time wins. You'd get a penalty for punsawing non-puns, and for failing to shout "VITSSÅGEN, JA!".

And the reverse version of that - How many puns can you make while also avoiding the punsaw?

It could all be the same event, with two teams: One punning, one sawing. They'd swap over at half time.

第二十五章

(chapter 24)

Somehow, Morobu manages to smile and frown at the same time. "How do you tilt a landscape by painting anyway?"
"Oh, it's not just paint anymore. Sure, the Mountain itself is still painted in the traditional ways. But I wasn't in that division. They're all older Japanese bots. Botched it too. Just a few dips ago there was still some of the summit showing." (At this Morobu raises his eyebrows a bit, feigning surprise.) "Very politely it was suggested that I should be in the 5-D projection group."
"Five dimensions? Like we use in the TARDIS?"
"Well, kind of. Actually, I don't understand most of it. Something about polarization of the graviton field. Did you know gravity could be circularly polarized?"
  Morobu shrugs.
"Yes, well anyway, I tried to explain that a TARDIS doesn't use that type of gravitometrics, but it's hard to say 'no' in Japanese. I was made captain of a team, with much bowing and oooohs and aaahhhs. Those Japanese bots love me. I guess you could say that I'm 'Big In Japan'."
Morobu squints a bit at imagebot, who blushes.

I assume Lucy = Aluisio.

Oh yes, thank you. Treating "Lucy" as a synonym for @AluisioASG was the missing piece. Also, I can see now that "What does it mean to paint the If red?" refers to the words "I've found a way to paint If red while keeping the long-distance timeline unaltered." in that same post, which indeed sounds ominous if "painting the If red" is the result of some massacre or bloody battle. Perhaps a giant raptorcat attacks Chateau d'If, a giant Cueball wraps a giant flag around the wounded castle, and the castle likes the island so much that it colors it a beautiful red.
  (Edit: I see @AluisioASG confirmed this, thanks! :) )

Searching for 'lucy' and 'lucille' was the first thing I tried. There are no relevant 'lucy' or 'lucille' references for the past several hundred newpages. There was a "Lucy-dog" here and this reference to some celebrity, and the rest is ancient...

I was picturing a section of 4-D spacetime embedded in 5-D space in such a way that the worldline has a choice, and beyond a certain point, the non-taken choice is no longer accessible. So I guess I got the meaning right, if not the reference

I feel like raft-surfing on zanclean waves would be a popular event. Cuegan certainly did well.

Wait for it.

Decades pass and years go by,
Days dissolve into the ether,
Condense like clouds,
And come raining back down.
But we are blind to this debris,
Piling up around our feet.
Oblivious,
And it's killing us.

I listen to cheery music.

I didn't actually pay much attention to the London Olympics. I think the Olympics have worn out their interest with me. *shrug*.

Blitzposting

Postby balthasar_s » Mon Jul 07, 2014 4:50 am UTC

So it has come to this.
I made a small film about blitz-posting.
I sometimes get ideas like this. I can't explain it.

Writing blitzreports is not as easy as it looks like. Especially if you are a cyclist from the secret base on the moon.

Wow, balthatelnet! I had no idea you went through so much trouble for each report! I'll read them with much more appreciation now.

In all seriousness, that's a wowterful short film! Nice cinematography and some extremely awesomeful electronics you got going on there.
