Amazon's new "Top Gear" with Clarkson et al has a budget of £160m for the first series:
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-enter ... 44856.html

36 episodes, works out at £4.5m an episode. Some of which will be spent ensuring hot food is available at all times, presumably.

£160m is more than the new incarnation of Doctor Who has had spent on it in total I believe. That's only £800k - £1m an episode and they've definitely done fewer than 160 episodes.

Uh, you hit turtles if you live in an area with snapping turtles because snapping turtles are the worst.

Well, see, I'm the kind of person who has repeatedly risked life and limb to save rattlesnakes that are crossing the highway. Probably neither of us is capable of 100% rationality on this issue.

Spoiler:
My hiking partner was a beautiful, healthy, intelligent woman.
I had/have a great deal of respect for her.

In the summer, there are a few weeks when a little Mouse has its numbers Sky Rocket.
We had been hiking in the High Country.

It was impossible to drive a car without killing some of what I called, "Lemmings".
Megan was usually the driver. (She was good at it, and I commuted for work.)

Comming back, she could not drive.
She kept Stopping to let the lemmings cross.
(fuck!)

I took over the driving.
She asked me how I could do such a thing,
before she gave me The Keys.

I said my little Prayer out loud, in front of her.
She looked at me and nodded. Off We Went!

Spoiler:
The Prayer?
It starts out, "Dear God; Forgive me for what I am about to do."

Then, the prayee should say something or not.
That time I said something like, "I know each one of these Lemming love life as much as I do."

Then there is the way the prayer ends.
"For what I am about to do, I am truly sorry."
Life is, just, an exchange of electrons; It is up to us to give it meaning.

What I don't understand is how anyone thought even for a moment that this was ok? I understand that many huge companies just give some intern almost total control of social media (because that's smart cheap), but even then, what a shitty intern.

Lawyer demands Trial by Combat to resolve case.

“After the Boston Tea Party in 1774 British Parliament tried to have an act to abolish trial by combat, but that failed,” he explained.

“In 1791, we have a constitution, a Bill of Rights that reserves the rights to the people. So the fact is it was never repealed and I’ll take that argument to the highest levels.”

Radio DJ suspended for saying breastfeeding is "unnatural" on air.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-33904758

I think "unnatural" is just about the most insane way to describe breastfeeding I can think of. Especially considering he follows that up by conceding women did it in the Stone Age.

Yeah, this is getting to the heart of his mentality. Breasts are purely sexual things, and so only attractive women should be getting them out. As opposed to breasts being functional, and therefore any woman who needs to feed her child should be allowed to get them out.

Pizzeria Apologizes For ‘Not-Racist’ Watermelon And Fried Chicken ‘Pic-A-Nika’ Pizza (SCREENSHOTS)

Gee, I don't know why anyone would get all up in arms about pickaninny..oops, I mean Picka-A-Nika pizza, just because it's made with made with Southern fried chicken, baby arugula, and sea-salted watermelon. Not a hint of racism to see here, move along people.

oh, Dear God; Forgive me.
I laughed.

I have not heard that word used in a long, long time.
Yes. In my world when it was in common use it referred to Black Girl Children.

Words mean what we are told they mean.
What I was told it meant was my hair was a muss.

Black Girls when playing outside and running wild with everyone else get Weird Hair.
My mom called me that word. She used it with love and humor. She didn't know better.

It meant, maybe, I should do something about my hair.
Most black girls I knew had moms that kept their hair under complete domination.

My hair was kept under complete domination, too.
Braids. Tight, Face Lift Tight Braids.

I don't know anything about the Pizza.
Is it good? They can re-name it.

What does that world mean that hurts?
Everyone can get messed up hair.
Well...Not bald people.

Everyone else can get messed up hair.
ok.ok. I'll Google it.

Still...I'd like you to know both black and white moms used that word with love, humor and a little exasperation.
Tangled hair is tangled hair. We usually needed our faces, hands and feet washed, too. And; Some food.

Watermelon and corn on the cob is darned good food.
We would make such a mess of ourselves we needed baths.
We played in the garden hose, to get off the first layer of dirt.

I'm sorry you are offended.

I'm not actually offended, in fact I personally think it's funny. It was also probably unintentional (read, not racist).

Clearly no one very knowledgeable reviewed the pizza offer. Certain uses of "fried chicken" and "watermelon" can get you accused of being a racist. Combine that with a a salad that looks like collard greens.

Then pick a name like that for the pizza? That sounds like that word?

I see a pattern.
No 'Nick Names' For entire groups.

If a group of people tell you they are Americans,
then you have to call them Americans, as a group.

Individually, you can call them AssHoles.
It that it? Is that the correct way to act?

See, there are just too many coincidences here. I could believe that its not management that was being racist, that the people who are answering for it didn't read it that way, but I can't really believe that no one put two and two together on this before it was put out, or that the person who put it together was entirely ignorant of the meanings of the objects they were assembling.

That's Dark News.
Or; You did not explain how it is funny.

Officials insist the destruction of Western food is a health issue - rather than political -
saying that most products supplied illicitly in contravention of sanctions are of dubious quality.

The only way I can make it be funny is through the lens that has Russia saying,
"Sanctions? Fuck your sanctions."

"We need and want so little from the west,
you do not need to enforce the sanctions."

"We will enforce the sanctions for you."

It does seem wasteful to destroy food, even if it's GMO and a little poison.
The people over the hill in Afghanistan could sure use the supplies.

It is mostly funny due to the ridiculousness of a big country like Russia making such petty reactions.

Also in case you didn't get that, Russia is enforcing its own sanctions against the EU; EU sanctions against Russia are mostly about loans and military equipment, not food.

That's quite interesting, given

Usually you get headlines like that for drug busts or smuggling alcohol / tobacco. (And the figure of $30m makes it sound like the average Russian would like their illegal Western cheese. And yes, this is because of Putin's ingenious counter-sanctions.)

Exporting food to Russia is big business, if Russia wants to retaliate economically for the EU sanctions, targeting EU food exports makes sense. The food sanctions are estimated to cost the EU 12 billion in lost exports. https://euobserver.com/news/125227
