Mediaeval Music

Postby Aiwendil » Fri Jan 29, 2016 10:40 pm UTC

So I've been listening to a good bit of Mediaeval music lately and thought I'd start a thread here on the off chance that any other forumites are fans of such things and wanted to share recommendations. Does anyone else out there enjoy a good estampie or consider themselves a connoisseur of Ars Subtilior?

My favourites (so far) are probably the "Istanpitta" (vol. 1 and 2) CDs of French and Italian instrumental dance music. I'm also fond of many of Ensemble Unicorn's CDs, such as "The Black Madonna", which features a great recording of one of my favorite mediaeval songs, "Los set gotxs". More recently, I've been listening to a lot of Ars Nova and Trecento music. I've been wanting to get into Ars Antiqua, but it seems to be harder to find recordings of stuff from that era.
