Holy Fuck, I'm not mafia for once. That's exciting! I bet that I'll still be lynched day 1-2, due to scummy meta. Seems like there's a huge amount of little widgets and strangeness though, judging by the number of special powers I ended up with, including a one-shot kill. Nifty.

I rolled dice for who to give spare gadgets to, and Freezeblade got a few more than the fair share, including at least one redundant device, but that's how 1d8 randomness goes with physical dice.

Er, the defusing manual says I need to checkmate white's king in exactly 10 moves.

Spoiler:
IMHO, you should probably not comment on game content unspoiled while game is in progress as you could inadvertently influence the result or give info.

I think plytho probably meant this game could have had N0---give one night for people to do some night actions before the official day start. Usually killing actions would be forbidden in N0.

[edit]Like, based on your comments, I think plytho is probably town.

Don't like being Survivor, there is little motivation for me in the game (assuming I can with scum as well). The only thing I can do is to practice my fake scum-hunting in preparation for when I end up as Mafia. Of course it would be nice to catch my Lyncher but hunting indies was never my forté.

Zebra wrote:As I've explained in the past early NL is correct mathematically if all of these conditions apply:
- there are an even number of players. Check.
- we are guaranteed of 1 kill / night. Not check. While I really doubt we have SK, there could be Vig or other mechanic.
- no weird indies screwing up math. Not check. Closed setup could mean a lot of things.

Just because we are even doesn't mean that it's a good idea to NL immediately.

Hmm, this seems to be a bit different to what Sabrar argued for in NNYM, seeing as we weren't guaranteed 1 kill a night and yet he thought early NL was better than late NL. Kind of requires knowing that all the town roles won't find it better to have narrowed down targeting possibilities too.

There is no way I'm going to be able to squeeze all the efficiency out of what powers I have. I'm tracking somi (I think), and I'll have something else to do once "evening" is over. There's stuff that looks like PGO items, stuff for avoiding trackers, and a guilty conscience vig that I am absolutely never using.

Huh. Well, I never suspected a strategy of "arrest them all and let the DA sort them out". I'm doubtful that enough people will be willing to go along with it, but who knows? The hidden mechanics may throw a wrench into the plan, depending on how Sabrar manages to get it implemented and how people react to their positioning in the list.

I suppose Sabrar's plan also requires a majority of players to have vanilla town win conditions or be otherwise compatible with the plan.

Spoiler:
Most players are armed from the start, and there are a lot of weapons and traps and a superweapon to be used. The police are just another tool. Only one has been used so far (which up to three FOUR! people know about), but I expect the bullets and explosions to start once people have some confidence in their aim.

Edit:
Ok, more people have a clue about it than I originally counted.
This just goes to show that checking your six and maintaining situational awareness is critical when you're up to nefarious deeds.

Perhaps it would be better to think of it as having an implied, active goal to work towards? Until other people's win conditions settle, you could still get caught in the crossfire and die as collateral damage, so solving other people's problems helps you win.

Spoiler:
Holy shit is this game complicated. With all the mechanics, devices, activity in the night, I really have no idea what is going on. I mean, I have a general sense, but it seems everyone else has way more information than me, because they seem to be forging ahead with a strategy that seems like suicide unless you have a good sense of the game mechanics.

Nobody is talking about the Solex Agitator, which I'm supposed to be looking for, but I'm guessing it's hidden...somewhere.

Ugh. I don't even know man.

The Mafia with the Golden Gun

Spoiler:
Hi Gojoe thread, have you missed me?

I am super busy this month, too busy to play, but SuicideJunkie offered me this very low time commitment role:
Golden Gun Rules wrote:Roles have been assigned via a set of fair dice rolls. Except for one case which will not impact the plot.

So I’m like, I don’t need to worry about having any teammates and letting them down if I need to drop out or fail? Ok I'm in. Interesting that no one else has speculated about this role in thread (especially because it was also mentioned here).

Amazing how much easier this game is when I don’t need to spend hours every day on scumhunting, analyzing the thread, and writing my posts. I haven’t stayed awake past midnight updating my spreadsheet and analyzing and composing my replies, woken an hour early so I would have time to write a post in the morning, lost sleep because something related to the game was on my mind, stressed about letting my teammates down.

Interesting that the overall content level of the game has been so relatively low anyway. Who’s scum I don’t really care (sorry wam you know I love you but you were an easy target). It will be funny though if I got the scum team of wam and Sabrar from the first page.

Setup spec:

Town
James Bond
Mary Goodnight
Lieutenant Hip
Q (not sure about this fourth slot but someone has to make all these gadgets)

Mafia
Francisco Scaramanga – Mafia strongman as long as he has the golden gun.
Andrea Anders – Mafia traitor, like all Bond girls can be “persuaded” by Bond to switch sides.
Nick Nack – Mafia usurper.

Neither
Dr Gibson

The lack of setup speculation (and about the special role) is very suspicious. Pretty sure Sabrar is scum because he hasn't pushed me for it.

...I was a little overconfident in the "not affecting the plot" part...
Dr Gibson was originally going to be an NPC to hold macguffins and kick off the story, but Bessie has become the focus of a lot of the action and somehow not died yet.
It is definitely more interesting this way, so its all good.

Golden Gun

Spoiler:
So, Day 3 and where are we?

--No one night killed which is both good and bad as we have a dearth of information.
--No information on the two people who we have arrested. The game goes on, so I figure that we have not gotten both of a two-man team.
--On a personal note, I am 0 for 2 on my attempts to obtain information. I decided to check out Mark's crib N2, but because of technicalities, I got detected and had to scram.

I've been in only one other game this frustrating, and that was the Unmafia game from a few years back. It was also a triumph for scum, so not a good precedent.

Spoiler:
@SuicideJunkie: If game is expected to be unusually long because of new death-mechanics then that would be a good thing to advertize in advance. Especially as a Survivor I would have played somewhat differently if I didn't think that an 8-player game would not end in a couple of days.
Also from an IRL perspective I didn't expect a game that would probably last more than a month.
