All the proud men turned to dust.

OK here goes.

This IS the most recent photo of me, but I was hesitant about posting it. What happened was I was quietly doing physics problems while listening to some Russian metal in the school courtyard, when some of my friends who had nothing better to do sneaked up behind me and made ridiculous faces while a third one yelled my name and then took the pic.

The expression on my face is due to a mixture of annoyance, concentration, and Russian metal.

The faces are actually pretty funny but I doubt they would appreciate me posting them on a public forum.

In order to get high enough I had to stand on top of the truck. Some baby.

I fed an adult one once. Never again will I make that mistake!

Story was that I was on a highschool trip that went to a zoo. They had many kinds of animals. Including a couple of giraffes. Everywhere they had these little pellets you could get for a quarter. I looked at the giraffe, looked at the pellets, decided that there was no way that would work. I looked at the closely cropped grass in the giraffe's fence, and the long grass out of the fence and made a reasonable deduction. I reached down, picked a big clump of grass, and held it up.

Observation the first. The giraffe is fast. I could not believe how quickly it arrived at my hand. I was in shock at how fast it was else the sight of something that big, headed towards me that fast, would have caused me to run away.

Observation the second. The tongue yanking the grass out of my hand is big and purple.

Observation the third. It slobbered like crazy!!! Ewww, yuk!

Well as you can imagine, people noticed that I had a giraffe eating out of my hand. So some fellow classmates came up and asked me how I did that. I said all you had to do was tear off a big clump of grass and hold it up, but you really didn't want to do that. While one of them was asking why not, another was in the process of offering grass and discovering first hand why not.

Wash, rinse, and repeat several times. Leaving several people desperate to find a bathroom to clean off slobbery hands.

Much more pleasant was having a deer lick my hand on the same visit, before the unfortunate giraffe experience. It was a hot day and I'd had my hands in my pocket so they were sweaty. I saw the deer cage, knew the animals were pretty tame, and wondered if it would treat my hand as a salt lick. It did. :D

I was asked about how I did that one as well. However when I said "I had sweaty hands" people just looked confused.

I can well believe it. In hindsight I wish I'd watched a giraffe that closely before trying to figure out how to feed one.

You sort of get used to it. I fed one a leaf from my mouth once because everyone else was too much of a pansy to do it. It wasn't terrible.

Perhaps knowing what to expect would have made a difference. Perhaps your tolerance level is much higher than mine.

I suspect a little of the former and a lot of the latter.

Stumbled on this yesterday. There was no alcohol involved in my over-wheelying a child's motorcycle at night. Thanks to my +5 Pajamas of Protection I was able to catch myself, though. :)

The other guy in the pic is not normally so limp-wristed. I think it's because he's drinking only one beer at the moment.

Oh, shit! I remembered posting the Chinese hat pic, but I hadn't remembered seeing the PJs pic in eons. I'm such an idiot. :-\

aetherson, every year we rent a cabin in the smoky mountains for a week and ride (and drink!) like mad. I had the PJs on because it was pretty late that someone decided to break out the dangerous toys. :)

The odd thing is that a few weeks after this pic I wrecked a very similar bike (curiously sober) wearing tennis shoes and burned the hell out of my ankle. A 2" x 1.5" rectangle about 3 mm deep, just above the anklebone, because there was about 3 mm of flesh over the bone! Boots are good.

Sadly, my friend had put the camera up and missed the sizzling-flesh episode.

Meh, Crowder is a stunt guy. He's all floreio, meaning all flash and no threat. But yeah, he makes it look fancy. But leave it to the internet to bring out the people that comment on various forms of martial arts and their effectiveness (seriously, what the hell). If you're in the area on April 25th, come check out the Madtown Throwdown in Madison, WI. I'll be the guy that's announced to use capoeira and bjj. It's an MMA fight and I'm not ticketed yet, so I'm not sure what I'm up against, but you'll at least get to see one capoeira vs. something else fight. Judge after that.
